The weekend weather around here has been such. a. tease lately! The past couple have given us a glimpse into early spring. Though I suppose if it has to part come Monday morning, better that than the other way around!

I’ve been sporting light jackets, plus lots of cuffed jeans [have to show some skin!] + heels[!!]. Because, well, it’s too warm for boots, too cold for sandals, and all of my flats are in a drawer at my office… tell me I’m not the only one who does this?!

These past couple of weekends, I was finally able to trade in my winter coats for some lighter jackets. Though it may not be time to shed all layers, as we say goodbye to 20-degrees and hello to mild 40s, it’s time to start filling those closets with spring jackets!

I’m the most excited to share these photos with you all today! Last weekend I met up with my friend Hope Kauffman, photographer extraordinaire, for a fun shoot around the Boston Harbor. This girl is going places…. like, literally. Boston was just a quick stop on her way to South Africa to shoot with Russell James... as in, Victoria’s Secret photographer Russell James. App Review: Boutikey

Unless they have to do with photo editing [hello Waterlogue], I’m always a little hesitant to download any new apps, even if they’re free, simply out of fear of cluttering my iPhone.

BUT I’ve found a new shopping app that is kind of really necessary to have on hand: Boutikey.

You all know I love to shop locally, and am especially into supporting local Boston boutiques [Britt Ryan, In the Pink, No Rest for Bridget, Savas Studios, etc etc.]. Like any smart shopper, I try to keep up with their sales, but when you follow some via Twitter, some via Instagram, some via email, and so on, the notifications get lost, and you just don’t hear about their specials like you would from, say, J.Crew.

Boutikey is streamlining the process and making super easy for you to connect + keep up with your favorite local boutiques. It’s a FREE app that allows you to follow the stores, hear about their current sales and promos, check out their current items and new arrivals, and–most fun and exclusive to this app–earn loyalty points for shopping there, ie. receive a pair of earrings for every $100 spent, or spend $150, get 20% off. It’s like FourSquare met Instagram and had a really fashionable, wallet-savvy baby.

Best Boston Boutiques

There are over 40 boutiques currently enrolled, including some of my personal favs: Mint Julep, Sail Loft, Heart & Sole, and Crush. Another great feature? GPS functionality. So when you’re out blindly shopping, Boutikey will let you know which stores are near, and where you can find the best deals.

Boutikey is currently available for iPhone + is coming soon to Android. And they are growing every day– be sure to visit their website, tell them what boutiques you want to see on the app, and you could win a $100 gift card.

[Old] Navy Nautical

I stopped in Old Navy for the first time in a while the other week during my Middlesex Commons Instagram takeover, and was floored by how many great nautical pieces they had received for spring! I hate to say it, but I’ve seen Old Navy tack-ify [that’s a word] a few trends in the past, so I was especially pleased to see a ton of very tasteful, simple takes on seaside style.

Tipsy Tuesday No. 12: Italian 75

I thought about searching for some indulgent, chocolatey Valentine cocktail to style + share today, but then I realized it’s also my #birthdayweek… and birthdays are more of an excuse to drink anyway 🙂

I love most things about being a February baby, minus the winter weather [fun party dresses are always accompanied by lotsa layers]. But THIS COAT. This is a party coat! And with an Italian 75 in hand–one cocktail that embraces my love for Prosecco + lemon but also looks toward brighter, summery days with the addition of pear–I’d be a happy birthday girl.

French 75

[ wear this ]

[ drink that ]
french 75 from good spirits by a.j. rathbun
serves one

[ ingredients ]
ice cubes
1 oz gin
1/2 oz pear grappa
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
chilled prosecco
lemon twist for garnish

[ directions ]
1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Add the gin, grappa, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake as if you were standing in line for the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and could only get to the front by demonstrating prodigious shaking ability.
2. Strain the mix into a flute glass. Top it off with chilled Prosecco, and garnish with the lemon twist.
