Wine Country

Unlike, oh, everyone else ever, I was indifferent about taking a trip up to Napa during our trip out to SFO. We’ve got great wineries right here at home! I wanted more time with tourist locales and pastel houses! But all y’all convinced me, and for that I am grateful as a goose.

We drove north without much of a plan, breaking for bubbly at Domaine Chandon, but really nailing it when we stumbled upon Goosecross Winery in Yountville. The view says it all.

Weather hadn’t exactly worked in our favor for, virtually, any of our trip up until this point, but as soon as we hit Yountville, nothin’ but sun and sauv blanc.

We’re headed off to San Fran in the morning [thank you all so much for your suggestions!], which means I really should be doing the physical packing rather than virtual right now…

Apart from not leaving it until the last minute, the pretty obvious but often overlooked key to being a good packer is planning outfits ahead of time, to get the most use out of every piece you squeeze in there. Here’s a rough idea of what I’m packing for a 4-day trip out west, but could really serve as a [hopefully helpful!] general spring packing list. Four days, just 13 mix-and-match pieces::

Cloudy with a Chance of Stripes

This “spring” is like an on-again-off-again boyfriend. Just when you think he’s here to stay, he flakes out. Few days later, he’s blowing up your phone. That poor groundhog was getting some serious mixed signals.

Wacky Weather & Wonderful Weekends

I feel like this space is turning into a weather blog. Minus the actual predicting of and instead just complaining about. These photos were taken on a February day in which it was hovering around 60 degress. Followed by snow. Followed by wind chills of give-or-take NEGATIVE TWENTY. And as I sit here writing this, it’s 55 degrees and raining with 32mph winds.

I tell ya man. That New England weather.

But in other news, here we are on a happier day in which there wasn’t a coat in sight! The best little morning-turned-into-afternoon stroll around Beacon Hill, complete with Tatte lattes and endless photos of doors.

A Snowy Stroll

And just like that, our too-good-to-be-true 67-degree January days turned into a weekend-long snowstorm overnight. Only unlike last year, I might have even slightly maybe enjoyed this blizzard just the teeniest tiniest of bits?

I’m sure I will regret saying that as soon as I next refresh weather.com.

But this storm was followed by SUN! We spent the weekend wandering around the neighborhood in our own little Narnia. And by the power vested in it, this holy sun even got me out of my trusty fleece leggings and into real clothes for a minute. I’m getting back to my roots and back into my favorite preppy winter outfits!

Now let’s see how long these real clothes last 🙂

Little Black Scallop Dress

One of my favorite Valentine’s Days spent with MJF was at Trident. No prix fixe menu, no candlelight. Just panini and some post-dinner book shopping in a little nook on Newbury Street.

…that sounds slightly more romantic now that I type it out. It was casual and I was dressed in yoga pants, I can assure you.

BUT I wouldn’t be a #fashionblogger if I didn’t at least pretend to dress up for a Valentine’s Date Night.

Pantone Peach Echo. Is it coral? Is it orange? Salmon? Admittedly, I think this may be my least favorite of this week’s Pantone Color Report 2016 roundup, but I still can’t say that I hate it {and it does trump some of the others on the full list– just not feeling Buttercup or Green Flash!}.
