You know for once, it feels like time has slowed down.
A small bit of me is of course still holyshithowisitChristmastime, but for the most part, I feel like I was able to breathe and enjoy fall.
{Famous last words before it turns out to be December 22nd and I still haven’t looked at the naughty & nice list.}
Here’s what’s been on my radar for November!
TownPool Boston Pop-Up // If you made it to Nantucket this summer, chances are you encountered TownPool as you made your way down Straight Wharf off the ferry. This quirky shop is more of a retail experience than a store, and its first Boston location has popped up at 899 Boylston Street for the holidays. Founders Sean Dew and Luke Gutelius have curated the most creative collection of men’s, women’s, children’s giftables and apparel, from Nutcracker-printed dresses and blazers to needlepoint moccasins. They’ve also managed to open Boston’s largest indoor mini-golf course in the back room {still trying to figure that one out}. Looking for a present for the person who has everything? You can find it at Townpool Boston.
Alice’s Table // I know I’ve mentioned Alice’s Table once or twice or eight times before, but in case you’re new–think Paint Nite minus the paint brushes plus flowers. Join in on one of these classes to learn the basics of flower arranging over a cocktail {or maybe a barre class}.
AT is back on my mind in particular this month because I llllurve bringing flowers as a holiday hostess gift {no one actually wants more shortbread cookies}, and I vow that this is going to be the time in which I finally put some of the things I’ve learned in these fun classes to use.
A Ruby x Dylanium Knits Trois Bateaux // I’ve made it more than obvious that A Ruby is one of my favorite local brands, and I’m so excited about everything they’ve got going on for the holidays. Avra has partnered with Boston-based designer Dylan Uscher on a custom sweater line—as in, you customize it. Color, stripe placement, initials. Two local designers making me a knit boatneck sweater with my monogram stitched inside? Is this heaven? The collab also includes the sweetest fingerless mittens ^^ and alpaca wool scarves that are screaming to have a role as stocking stuffers.
Have a look at the sweater samples, along with the rest of the A Ruby line, at her Copley Square pop-up shop between now and January!
Epilepsy Awareness Month // 65 million worldwide. 3 million Americans. One in 26. People living with epilepsy. I’ve shared a little of my story before, and while I don’t care to draw too much attention to it, I’m far from ashamed, and I like to take a little time every November to spread awareness and shed some light on this widely misinterpreted condition.
It would mean the world to me if you took all of three minutes (tops!) to read this seizure first aid guide. One in ten people will have a seizure at some point in their lifetime. Knowing how to react as a witness can make all of the difference.
It’s also a good excuse to wear purple. EAM2016 got me like::
Bumble BFF // One thing I failed to consider when graduating college was how difficult it’d be to make friends in a new city as an adult.
…Ok, to be fair, I wasn’t the one moving to a new city, but Boston was a completely different place once all of my college friends moved on and out. I was lucky that a new group of friends in the form of a dance company fell into my lap rather quickly, but if I hadn’t been at the right place at the right time, or if I had to make the move again, I’d be at a total loss for how to meet girlfriends.
You’ve all heard of Bumble, I’m sure. But just a dating app it is not. You can now switch over to the “BFF” mode to find just that! TBH I’m not sure how it took so long for someone to come up with this concept…over 8 million matches have been made so far, so if you’re one of those gals I overhear saying “I don’t know how to meet new friends my age,” here’s your answer. It’s just too bad Paul Rudd didn’t have access to it when he was really in need.
Happy Thanksgiving week sweet friends! Back at it Wednesday to get you prepped for a weekend of steals & deals.
