Ok ok, so I know we already talked bridal shower attire once this week, but I am headed to my first of the year on Sunday, so I’m taking the opportunity to chat about another dress (or two) that I’m having a mini love affair with… particularly because you could wear this anywhere from dinner at a beach resort to the office with a blush blazer, OR in my case, one of the numerous showers filling the calendar this spring. Sequins & Flannel

I’m pretty sure if this blog had one of those cuteblank&cuteblank names, it would be sequins & flannel. Rustic, cozy, New England-ness, mixed with just a hint of girly whimsy fun.

‘Tis the season! How many of your weekends over the next few months are stacked with wedding + baby showers, bachelorettes, weddings and christenings?

I’ve got three bridal showers over the next month, including my own, and I know I’m not alone. Problem is, there’s still a whole lotta snow on the ground up here, so it’s not exactly sundress season yet. Highland Light + Coastguard Beach

You know those winter days when the sun finally comes out after weeks of hibernation and the way it reflects off the snow is just blinding? Yeah. Had one of those this past weekend when we took a day jaunt down the Cape. In between wedding errands, we attempted to soak up some of that luscious Vitamin D, visiting Truro’s Highland Light (#obv) and Coastguard Beach.

Highland Light is the oldest AND tallest lighthouse on the Cape. Its grounds and view are so picturesque and quintessential Cape Cod that it hurts. BF and I are going to have a few days to hang in the area post-wedding, so I’m hoping to drag him on a tour once it opens for the season…!

Cape Cod Off Season

The boyfiancé and I have this thing for visiting popular seasonal locales in the off-season. An island in the winter, a famous-for-foliage town in the heat of summer. It’s so fun to see these areas without all the crowds of tourists, not to mention without all the jacked-up prices.

We headed over the bridge to the Cape to run some quick wedding errands (two months!!) this weekend, and had the best day strolling the quiet towns.

One of the best things to do in these seasonal towns? Support the businesses that do stay open all year… they are hungry for customers, and most will offer exceptional deals and sales!

Browse an overwhelming collection of used books at Yellow Umbrella Books in Chatham.

Lobster roll at The Impudent Oyster.

Drive up to Coastguard Beach (and dog-watch… they’re the only ones out there!)

Treasure hunt at Bob’s Back Antiques.

Tasty treats + hot soups and sandwiches at Cottage Street Bakery (plus the cutest vintage decor!).

I took a bit of my own advice and justified buying a new coat for this never-ending winter, but in a hue that would make these days feel just a bitttt brighter. I still can’t actually wear anything but seriously weather-proof boots outside, and the poor Beans have taken such a beating that maybe some cheery footwear will be my next investment…
