It will come as no surprise to many of you that I’m a bit of an anglophile. I worship the ground Kate Middleton walks on, have similar feelings for Bridget Jones, Emma Thompson, & Hermione Granger, binge watch The Great British Baking Show, melt at English accents (no matter what the teeth look like), sign off everything with cheers, and believe tea time really shouldn’t have become a thing of the past post 1776.
Then recently, Provincetown’s Tea Dance rage party was brought to my attention. Now I’m struggling to find much on the origins of this, but I’m going to go out a limb and assume its 4pm start time HAS to be a reference to tea time, no?
(Plz comment below if you are ITK about this!!)
Either way, it planted the idea of a grown up tea party in my mind. Here’s how I went about hosting one::

Bevvies //
First cliché thought? Serve Twisted Tea or sweet tea vodka cocktails. But like, this isn’t me in my dorm room circa 2009.
Then I found Itz Spritz, and its lightly sparkling sophisticated flavors turned on a switch. Cucumber Lime? Elderflower Citrus? Golden Pear? Pass the cream cheese & cuc sandwiches please.
This new alcohol spritzer is gluten-free, all natural, and has only five ingredients. Didn’t we learn in health class once that you should only be eating food with five ingredients or less? These are basically nutritional*

Pop these cute cans on a few saucers and things are lookin’ uppppscale. Which leads me to…

This copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland served up a welcome dose of inspiration. Illustrated by Anna Rifle Bond, Rifle Paper Co. was just BEGGING to be included on this whimsy tablescape. Seemed like the perfect excuse to add some Botanical Garlands and floral drink coasters to my cart if you ask me.
Litter the table with a dash of rustic {these old books and burlap runners are left over from our wedding!} and some mismatched teacups for a Pinterest-ready look. Now where are the flower crowns?

Sweets //
Newsflash:: I still can’t bake. So I put my sweet baby brother to work with a boozy spice cake {adult tea party in the works – remember!}, with my grocery-store-floral arranging skills comin’ in hot. Scones are so 1900s.

With just the lightest, most refreshing amount of sweetness, Itz Spritz allowed room for that second piece of cake.
For more than its yummy taste, I’m excited to keep my fridge stocked with Itz Spritz because I love the story:: Girl boss Kate Sturdevant can’t find an all-natural, great tasting go-to drink that still satisfies the craving, so she creates her own! #thefutureisfemale
Well, I’m off to catch up on Downton. Cheers and cheerio chaps!!

Full disclosure: This post was created in partnership with Itz Spritz. Thank you for supporting the brands that support shell chic’d!

Say hello to:: Crispy Oyster Lettuce Cups, Lobster & Grits, Smoked Salmon Avo Toast {eat it up millennials}, the most mouthwatering blueberry buckwheat pancakes, AND wash it down with a passionfruit mimosa.
Only complaint? Brunch is served on Sundays only. Perk? It lasts until 4:30. Take your sweet time with that hot. buttered. lobster roll.
I’ve never considered becoming a vegetarian. Not a second thought. I’m sorry, I am. I truly respect those of you who are more than you know. But the idea of meat substitutes and relying on beans and buckwheat as my source of protein is just too much.
This trendy AF quick-service joint got its start back in NYC, and the IG-ers of Boston have already lost their cool over how #grammable this place is, with its avo toast, coconut water, tile tables and floors, and beachy window swings.
The thought of vegan cheese and mayonnaise substitutes used to be one of the more revolting ideas in the world to me, but you haven’t lived until you’ve tried by CHLOE Boston’s Lobster Roll or Mac n’ Cheese. Don’t question what’s in it and you’ll enjoy it even more.

Don’t be fooled. I haven’t yet figured out how to be a food blogger. But I can now tell you how to trick people into thinking you’re Pinterest-worthy in 30 minutes or less.
Here’s what you need for this just-barely-passes-as-homemade Lucky Charms cake::

This Lucky Charms cake goes great with Guinness. I think.

Let’s get real here. Pinterest and lifestyle blogs and all of the above frequently paint this picture of easy-breezy-beautiful beach picnics, featuring cheese that doesn’t melt, fruit that sand never touches, and—most importantly—chilled full bottles of rosé with coordinating hand-painted wine glasses that absolutely fail to tip over despite the sandy uneven surface! {
