Hi hello happiest of new years! I truly almost got locked out of here on account of forgetting my password and I feel like a boomer trying to figure out how the new WordPress editor works so that should be a fine indication of how long it’s been since I’ve graced you with my presence.
I reread my first post of 2019 this week. I was probably dry heaving pregnant at the time, yet hadn’t told you yet. Carrying that babe definitely changed my focus and made those resolutions easier to stick to. They (she!) became my everything from the very first ultrasound. I couldn’t drink anyway did more things with intention. Started saying no to more, and worked on not caring when I wasn’t even given an invitation to say yes or no. Spent less time on social media, especially after her arrival, which was one of the smartest things I could have done in those hazy and emotional newborn days. Was more deliberate in what I did post on social media.
(I’ve already admitted to falling back into shopping aimlessly but as discussed you can blame those on lonely midnight feedings not me.)
I’ve found myself returning to my pre-2019 distracted ways lately though. I mean I’ve got a 6-month-old now, shoot me. But I’m trying my darnest to s-l-o-o-w-w-w down. Focus and intention are the two words I’m working so hard to keep top of mind, for both of our sakes. In what I write and how I spend—time and money—especially.
Unpopular opinion, but if we’re being real I’m not even going to try to say in how I treat my body. I know, I know, shoot me again. I won’t be inconsiderate per se, but returning to regular exercise and choosing leafy greens over an Anna’s quesadilla to go are straight false promises and I’m cutting myself some slack for my first year of being a parent. It’s called survival.
Also, I’ve come to face the hard truth that Follain shopping sprees do not count as self care.
Lol are you even still here? I’m rambling like this is my LiveJournal of 2004 and already breaking my focus!!! Let me have just one diary entry a year though, then back to your regularly occasionally scheduled programming.
Happy new year to you + yours, more to come!
