I like to think I was a Hill House stan before it was cool. When the company first dipped its toes into apparel, I desperately wanted one of their butter-soft glorified nightgowns, but the only people on my feed wearing them at that time were pregnant or postpartum, so I felt like a fraud getting one at the end of my breastfeeding ~journey~
Whatever, I waited until Black Friday and did it anyway, and by then even those not with child had caught onto the allure. It didn’t hurt that it was 2020 at this point, and we were all slaves to our loungewear. Nap Dresses were just as comfortable and scored you a lot more compliments over Zoom calls.

It’s been a few years since the Nap Dress entered the group chat, and Hill House Home has gone from a bedding company with a handful of smocked dresses to a full lifestyle brand with a true cult following of grandmillennials. I don’t know if the greatest marketing agency in the world could have created the addiction community that founder Nell Diamond has. Tomorrow is the Summer Drop, and I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that I thousands of women have for sure already marked their work schedule as ‘unavailable’ from 12-12:15pm and will be speed-typing their billing address like it’s nobody’s business.
I remain loyal but admit that as their prices continue to creep upward, I’ve been doing my buying on Poshmark. The original Ellie Nap Dress hiked from $125 to $150, for starters. Is the quality worth the price? Meh. A smocked dress is hardly revolutionary and SO many brands have launched dupes this year. So if I’m buying a Hill House dress, it’s because of the prints (I really hope a hefty chunk of that revenue goes to the artists) and because I’m supporting a small woman-owned business, instead of a major mass-producing retailer.
{ And ok because the tulle is the Hermione-at-the-Yule-Ball dress of my dreams and good luck replicating that SheIn. }
And while I personally haven’t experienced any HHH quality or shipping issues, I’ve seen a number of complaints, especially with smocking. That being said, I’ve also heard first-hand accounts of customer service happily and quickly resolving said issues.

A massive summer collection drops tomorrow at 12pm EST, and just like college course selection day, you are going to want to be on and refreshing that page by 11:59. The line sheet and previews are available on their Instagram for wish list-ing purposes.
If this is your first purchase with the brand, here’s a Hill House discount code: take 20% off through this link (I get a small coup for myself if you do, but this post is not sponsored!).
A sizing note: Many will tell you to size down for Ellie dresses only. I’m no help here…maybe it’s my disproportionately large ribs, but I take the same size in all styles.
An undergarments note: Almost every piece labeled “swiss dot” is sheer, and neither the Tulle Ellie nor Lace Ellie are lined. This is my favorite nude slip, and I’ve also had great luck with these Target slips matching the tulles (they’ll be back tomorrow!).
Here are some spring styles already available to familiarize yourself with the brand! Sleep + swim have already been dropped for the summer, so while there may be restocks tomorrow, don’t count on new styles.
