Anywhere you look this time of year, you can find pumpkin if you want it. So I thought today I’d pay homage to the often overlooked fall flavor of cranberry. Tart, but sweet, and especially good with cinnamon for some added spice. I’d have no problem curling up with a glass of this most autumn nights!

[ ingredients ]
6 ounces white rum
4 ounces cranberry juice cocktail
4 ounces water
3 ounces Simple Syrup
2 ounces fresh pineapple juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
[ directions ]
1. Add the rum, cranberry juice, water, simple syrup, pineapple juice, cinnamon, and cloves to a medium-size saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until hot but not boiling.
2. Add a cinnamon stick to each of 4 mugs. Pour the hot mix equally into the mugs.
3. Sprinkle a hint of nutmeg on top of each mug. Serve with a warning: It’s hot.
