If you’ve visited this blog even just once before today, you must know that Cape Cod is a very special place to me and the mister, and especially the Lower Cape. We’ve always known of Wequassett Resort and Golf Club and admired it from afar {literally–it sits directly across from where we got married on Pleasant Bay last year}, so we were more than honored when we we were invited to visit it as guests last month.
Upon arriving, despite looking like peasants as probably the only people to ever show up to Wequassett in a Zipcar, we immediately realized what makes this a 5-star resort. The genuine attention from the staff is incredible, the hospitality second to none.
Our cottage-like suite bore panoramic ocean views, and an interior that was the perfect blend of New England charm with modern upgrades. But there was little to keep us in the room with so many activities and amenities to experience–not to mention, food to eat–around the property.
[ to do ]
Pool & Beaches // I could have sat at the pool with its bottomless Coconut Mojitos for two days straight if you let me. It’s adjacent to a private and serene sandy beach, where sailboats and kayaks are a plenty, but if you’re like me and prefer someone else to play captain, you can board the shuttle boat to the National Seashore, just a quick ride away. Don’t forget to order your picnic lunch from the resort 😉
Tennis // Hahahah. Like we’re ever going to be satisfied playing on our local elementary school’s courts again after this. L-O-V-E, literally.
Other Leisure Sports // I don’t really agree with the words “leisure” and “sports” ever being next to each other, but if I’m being perfectly honest, I now regret not taking advantage of the fitness center’s zumba and yoga classes, volleyball courts, and bike tours, among others. And a little lawn croquet anyone? #whatwasithinking
Golf // This goes without saying. I can’t say we took advantage of the course either, as I probably would have been kicked out if they let me anywhere near a golf cart, but I know many people who will stand behind its reputation as one of the finest courses in the country.
[ to eat ]
Thoreau’s // Someone {hint:: not Matt} was hangry upon our arrival, so we quickly scooted to the closest outdoor table we could find on the property. Thoreau’s did not disappoint when all we wanted was a couple cocktails + afternoon apps. Its indoor club-like bar is also the perfect setting for–God forbid–rainy Cape afternoons.
Twenty-Eight Atlantic // I’m not exaggerating when I claim that this was one of the top five meals and dining experiences I may have ever had in my life. The food, the wine pairings, the staff, the sunset views of Pleasant Bay. I’d like to also point out that while our meal was complimentary, the restaurant staff was not aware that I was, how should we say, media. Back for brunch in the morning, where we had another A+ experience and meal. #biggestbuffetever
And resisting a nightcap down by the fire pits along the bay would be an absolute crime.
In order to not gain 10 pounds over a one-night trip, we did unfortunately have to resist trying every eating establishment on the property. Other spots we’ve heard nothing about great things about though include Outer Bar & Grille–perfect for a lunch alongside the pool–and its sister bar Libaytion. No shoes required.
But THE BEST dining experience of all: S’Mores around the fire pit. We were told “Children of all ages can now order a personal s’mores kit to their room,” and that of all ages bit was taken real literally with us. We enjoyed ours on a patio in front of an evening fire, with some bubbly alongside. H-e-a-v-e-n. And absolutely a creative amenity. Know guys and gals staying here for a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary, whatevah whatavah? Send ahead one of these kits to their room and you’ve secured your spot as best-friend-ever.
This resort was everything we thought it’d be and more. One can stay here and have virtually an entire Cape Cod experience without ever having to leave the property. That being said, if you do want to venture out, the surrounding possibilities are endless. Shopping and dining in sweet little downtown Chatham {shameless plug: in the pink is a Main Street must}, the quickest of drives away. Lighthouse tours. Truro Vineyards. Cape Cod National Seashore.
A Gatsby-like locale perched on the bluffs of Pleasant Bay, Wequassett is an unbeatable destination. So much more than a hotel and worth every penny.

Full disclosure: I was provided a complimentary one-night stay and two meals on the property for the purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are my own. Thank you for supporting the incredible businesses that support shell chic’d!
