We may be more seashells than Southern belles, but still had tons of fun sipping raspberry-infused juleps and celebrating the 139th Kentucky Derby! Did you don derby hats or sombreros during this beautiful spring weekend?

For a New England girl, I happen to love the Southern tradition of the Kentucky Derby. I mean, give me some seersucker, bow sashes, and floppy hats any day and I’ll be happy, so I guess the Derby is really just an excuse… either way, I plan on betting some mint juleps this Saturday! Will you be celebrating? Or at least dressing for the occasion?
The Queen of Prep
Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away peacefully yesterday morning at her home in Palm Beach at the age of 81. Her colorful way of living has inspired me every day for years. This beautiful woman turned her depression into a juice stand, which turned into a line of dresses, which turned into a way of life. She leaves a legacy that I know will continue to keep the fashion world cheery and bright for years to come.
Life’s a party, dress like it.
Two Years
so anthro turns two years old today! What a second year it has been. I attended my first blog conference, got to work with some amazing brands/stores/salons, was featured in The Boston Globe and LaurenConrad.com, and have gotten to meet and play with some amazing Boston bloggers who have turned into wonderful real-life friends. It has been such a sweet journey and I can’t wait for the next year. I thank you all for your endless support and for reading this little bloggity blog of mine!

Saint Patrick Green
Just like red and pink on St. Valentine’s Day, even at my age I can’t help but get into the spirit and wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. This springy look would have been more appropriate on last year’s St. Patty’s Day (hello 72 degrees and sunny!), but I can guarantee you even if it hits above 50 this year, I’ll be excited enough to rock a sundress.

Pink puffer vest strikes again! Bright pinks like this and cheery blue gingham like this are the only things getting me through this horrid winter (ie. the only days it’s not snowing it’s raining with 40 mph wind instead). I’m looking forward to spring more than I can express in words, so right now I’ll let the vibrant colors and picnic-ready patterns do the talking…!
She lives every day like it’s a celebration
With my birthday coming up this week, I have party dresses on my mind! Lilly‘s spring collection has hit stores, and how I wish I could be rocking one of these to celebrate!

Alas, there’s still a bit too much snow on the ground, so I’m guessing my birthday dress will cover a little more and be a little more closed-toe, but rest assured I’ll still be sticking to the Lilly mantra life’s a party // dress like it 🙂

If this isn’t my personal style wrapped up into an outfit, I’m not sure what is. A whimsy printed dress, navy blue + kelly green color combo, pearls, bows, and Lilly? If my life were an occupation, this would be the uniform.

All I really wanted for Christmas was a puffer vest— to wear by itself in the chilly parts of fall and spring, and to layer underneath fleeces in the bitter winter. I let Santa pick the color though, and couldn’t be more excited about the salmon pink! Just the pop of fun I need to keep me smiling through the freezing months ahead…
I’ve been an awful good girl…
