When I got to college, I did the most bag-girl thing that I had the nerve to do. [I got my cartilage pierced.]
And then when I was about to graduate college, I did the second most bad-girl thing I had the nerve to do. [I got a second hole.]
Believe me, if I ever go for that tattoo or, god-forbid, third hole, you’ll be the first to know. Until then, I’m hardly exciting.
And I got these bad boys for the sole reason that I just love earrings! Yet I am terrible at following through and hardly ever change them out. So I’ve tried to mix it up a little lately.
So I’ve gotten a little better about the lobe, but changing the cartilage still needs some encouragement. I adore some of the studs from online retailer FreshTrends though, especially this rose, key lock, and this FEATHER. Oh my goodness want. Wish I were cool enough to pull off.
Any go-to places you all look for fun little earrings?
I’ve got a crush… a color crush. On rose.
Can’t get enough of this pretty pink hue lately, so I’m dedicating today’s Friday’s Fancies to it! Perfect color to get in the mood for the big V-Day too, eh?

Etsy and I have become very close lately. I might have gotten a little Paypal-happy on Small Business Saturday and the surrounding week, but I couldn’t be happier with my purchases…
Spike the Punch
If you’re a member of the fashion blogging community, Spike the Punch is probably no stranger to you. These unique hand-painted crystal necklaces have gained popularity so fast that Elizabeth can barely keep them on the shelves! I was lucky to snag this neon yellow and pink one, but I’m dying to get my hands on more color combos soon!

Pomflair
When I first saw tassel garland on Cupcakes and Cashmere, I fell a little bit in love with the idea of a shimmering wall. That’s why I was SO excited to hear about Etsy shop Pomflair who does their own version– much more affordable and customizable with any colors!

bfrend
I want to stack my whole arm in these bfrend bracelets. You know Monika from The Doctor’s Closet, and I guarantee that you will find her jewelry just as fun as her blog. Shown above is the tassel bracelet, but you have got to check out her neon cobra versions as well.
New goal in life? To be the next big Etsy shop. Who knows. Maybe 2012 will grace me with that. But in the meantime, what are some other shops I should check out??

Flats, Michael by Michael Kors
I’ve had a total crush on pink and gold lately, and it’s been the perfect excuse to break out The Chanel Ring.
It’s by no means straight out of the jewelry department… it’s actually just an old button from a Chanel suit that some craft angel turned into a ring. I found it in a tiny vintage store in Florence when I studied there a few summers ago. It’s way too big and might have cost me a few euros more than I should have paid, but where else am I going to find something like this? It’s the one-of-a-kind pieces I can justify spending just a tiny bit more on. Plus whenever I wear it I’m instantly transfered back to standing on the Ponte Vecchio bridge that summer day 🙂
Also, side note: that blazer has shoulder pads. Forever 21… the 80s called and… well, you know.
Happy Thursday cuties! I need to share with you the sweetest new jewelry I’ve found online lately…
After seeing this post from Glitter & Pearls, I became obsessed with finding a starfish cuff to finish off summer with. I love this one from Anthropologie but it’s oh, you know, only 200 wallet-burnin’ bucks. But then I saw this post from stripes & sequins and found one I liked even more at BaubleBar!
This has got to be my new favorite online jewelry retailer. Not only are the prices way fair, but the package also arrived with a hand-written note from owners Amy and Daniella! Now really, how often do you see that anymore? Will definitely be buying from them again- if not for their jewelry for their amazing customer service! (But definitely for their jewelry…)
I’m also in love with my new rosette necklace from Etsy member the sweet shoppe:
I’ve been at Etsy fan forever, but usually I just browse. This summer was the first time I ever purchased anything. The last two products I bought from Etsy sellers took forever to arrive, but my necklace arrived so quickly and I couldn’t be happier with it! Plus, Suzy is offering a deluxe set right now: choose any ring, necklace, and earrings for $35! You can’t beat that, so please take advantage of it for me!
Do you have any online jewelry retailers you always turn to? Or any other good Etsy shops to recommend?
I don’t know how this was ever officially decided on, but sometime over the last few years, the hummingbird became the official mascot of my apartment/roommates (better known as Green Street Girls).
Missing these girls more than ever, hummingbirds have been on my mind a lot lately. Amanda sent us a photo of this cookbook last week, available from (of course) Anthropologie.
They’re not a trend right now, I can say that for sure, but I managed to scour a few hummingbird fashions on the shelves right now:
I usually don’t like mixing vintage and modern looks, so this outfit was a little out of my comfort zone. The shirt printed with weathered keys, vintage sewing machine necklace, and actual jewelry of my grandmother’s? All very much my normal style. But throw in a pair of metallic gold tassel flats (still available here from Forever 21), and that is a whole new me!
And on a different meaning of old + new, this whole fashion blogging thing has got me pushing more and more every day (ok not every day– a girl is entitled to a couple lazy ones!) to be adventurous with my wardrobe and see what new outfits I can create out of older pieces. It’s actually getting embarrassing for me to open my closet and see how much I don’t ever put to good use…
So here’s to creating fun and inspiring new fashions out of older belongings. With the exception of a few indulgences every now and then 🙂
