Today Yesterday was one of my best friend’s birthdays, but due to some technical difficulties this post is a day belated! 🙁
Demetra and I share two loves. One love is Nutella, the other is cupcakes. Since we’re so far apart now, I can’t be with her on her 22nd birthday, but I’m still baking Nutella Cupcakes in her honor! A virtual birthday party, if you will.
Recipe is from cutest-baking-blog-ever Your Cup of Cake, and I highly recommend these. These being both nutella cupcakes and best friends.
Happy birthday Dem!! Wish more than anything we could actually eat these together!
Tonight is my last night in my beloved college apartment. Over the course of two years, we’ve had nine different people call it home, but I was here the full time- no sublettin’ for me! Tomorrow though, it gets packed up and I am out. But since I’m big on reminiscing, here are some of my favorite parts of this place:
And finally the girls who shared this home (well, most of them):
May 2009: Right after we signed the lease!
May 2011: Morning of our college graduation
Last weekend was so exciting because I got to spend just about 24 hours with Sam! It was special and at the same time super sad because this is the last I’m seeing her before she packs her bags and moves cross country to start a new life in LA! It’s been rough watching so many of my best friends head out west to pursue their Hollywood dreams, but at the same time I’m so excited for everything they are about to experience 🙂 And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that GSG is going to stay friends fo’ life.
Here are a couple shots of our waterside weekend!
Miss you already!!
I don’t know how this was ever officially decided on, but sometime over the last few years, the hummingbird became the official mascot of my apartment/roommates (better known as Green Street Girls).
Missing these girls more than ever, hummingbirds have been on my mind a lot lately. Amanda sent us a photo of this cookbook last week, available from (of course) Anthropologie.
They’re not a trend right now, I can say that for sure, but I managed to scour a few hummingbird fashions on the shelves right now:
Samantha needs a new iPhone cover.
Let’s help her out, shall we? I know literally the first thing I did when I got my iPhone for graduation, even before I got it activated, was run to Lilly Pulitzer for this baby:
Many of these link to the designer’s generic iPhone case, so definitely click the images to see all of the colors and designs available! Most also come in sizes to fit iPhone 3’s and 4’s.
And my personal favorite (so what if it doesn’t protect much?):

Happy Monday lovers!
I got to spend a wonderful weekend in Rhode Island with a bunch of my college friends… can’t believe it’s only been six weeks since we graduated because it feels like we’ve been apart forever! Anyway, seeing one of my best friends, Samantha, gave me some inspiration for this post.
Sam has got to be one of the best people I know at accessorizing. I’ve always envied how easily piling on jewelry comes to her– she can wear about nine bracelets and a ring on every finger and make it look so natural! Example A:
She has a style that’s hard to copy, but I can at least offer you some cute rings that remind me of her. These picks are from pretty mainstream stores, but I find that this style of jewelry is best found at little beach shops and individual boutiques– you’ll find incredibly original pieces there. Also, don’t shy away from those jewelry kiosks in malls; some can be pretty tacky, but a lot also have some hidden gems. Literally.
And on another note, can we talk about how fun Instagram is? Here are some other edited shots from our beach day:
Here’s to a great week for you all!

A couple weeks ago, I saw a girl wearing the cutest outfit on the subway. I was planning on making one of my roommates recreate and model it for me, but yesterday Demetra coincidentally came home wearing just the sort of outfit I was picturing!
It’s a cute twist on a plain summer dress– add an oxford. It also makes your outfit versatile… it’s getting super hot and muggy out in Boston, even in the early hours on my way to work, but my office also just installed new ACs making it freezing in here! Tying a light-weight oxford over your sundress alleviates the chill. It also will make spaghetti strap or halter-styles more work appropriate!
You probably have the basics in your closet already, a plain or printed dress and an old oxford (steal a guy or boyfriend’s if you don’t!).
Dress up the outfit even more with heeled wedges and a long necklace. Demetra’s watch also adds quite a bit of sparkle.
To imitate this look, check out this Polyvore, featuring an American Eagle cotton dress (who doesn’t have one of those lying around?) in navy, a Ralph Lauren oxford shirt, Steve Madden wedges, and J Crew and Kate Spade jewelry. Click the image for item details.
I can finally post this now that Commencement is over!
As graduation gifts for my roommates, I decorated eight little wooden memory boxes:
Unfinished wooden boxes can be found in a variety of shapes and sizes at pretty much every craft store. Using leftover green paint from rooms in our apartment, I sponged the outside of them all first and then stained the inside with wood stainer. To embellish, I modpodged a photo onto each (the antique looking edges are really just from ripping the paper!), and then stamped them with various Paper Source rubber stamps (like this one).
Finally, I tagged them all with gsg (for Green Street Girls) by modpodging newspaper letter cutouts onto the front.
Best part? Talia’s sister told her they looked “so Anthropologie” 🙂

Well, we did it! On Monday , Emerson College’s Class of 2011 graduated at Boston’s Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theater. It was a long day and an even longer senior week leading up to it, but so much fun and full of so many great memories (cliche much?).
As promised, here’s a fashion recap of my roommate’s commencement dresses:
Corey Jane in Urban Outfitters
Britt in Urban Outfitters
Amanda in White House Black Market
Natasha in J Crew
Samantha in Free People
Demetra in Anthropologie
Me in American Apparel
Talia in Urban Outfitters
Steph in Banana Republic
Such a wide range of tastes. Not. 🙂
It hasn’t even been a week and yet I miss all of my friends already. Some are flying back to LA, some starting life in New York City, others moving into grad school. I’m so proud of each and every one of them and am so excited for what they are all about to experience!
Have you attended any graduations this month?
