I am so excited about this week’s Friday’s Francies theme since blazers are my favorite fall pieces [good choice {av}!]. I especially love the look of boyfriend blazers (like this one from Jack Wills), because they have a bit more of a laid-back feeling but are still chic and professional. J Crew also has some in a ton of cute colors this season… loving this pink one!
Only problem I have with blazers is there gets to be a time in New England’s fall–>winter when they are not enough of a jacket, but also feel too bulky under anything else! How do you all do with wearing them under coats? Or do you just layer under the blazer to stay warm?
Renshaw Boyfriend Blazer, Jack Wills, £229
Accordion Pleat Chiffon Skirt, Forever 21, $15.80
Aoxi Heeled Oxfords, Anthropologie, $198
Bloomfield Headband, Jack Wills, £19
Mod in Mauve Clutch, ModCloth, $50 (sale!)
All Wrapped Up Pearl Earrings, Kate Spade New York, $68
Snake Chain Bracelet, J Crew, $58
Hang in There Glasses Pendant Necklace, Kate Spade New York, $148
Happy weekend everyone!! xx
I usually don’t like mixing vintage and modern looks, so this outfit was a little out of my comfort zone. The shirt printed with weathered keys, vintage sewing machine necklace, and actual jewelry of my grandmother’s? All very much my normal style. But throw in a pair of metallic gold tassel flats (still available here from Forever 21), and that is a whole new me!
And on a different meaning of old + new, this whole fashion blogging thing has got me pushing more and more every day (ok not every day– a girl is entitled to a couple lazy ones!) to be adventurous with my wardrobe and see what new outfits I can create out of older pieces. It’s actually getting embarrassing for me to open my closet and see how much I don’t ever put to good use…
So here’s to creating fun and inspiring new fashions out of older belongings. With the exception of a few indulgences every now and then 🙂
I feel like I’ve been channeling and catering to the prep in me a ton lately, so here’s something to inspire your inner hippy: dreamcatcher earrings. I had been looking for a pair forever… finally I found the perfect pendants at a little outdoor jewelry stand on the Boston Common, but unfortunately they were on a necklace. Luckily, after a little pleading, the attendant took the pendants off the chains and turned them into earrings for me 🙂
Since then, I feel like I’ve seen them pop up a ton more. Here’s an Etsy seller, Serenity Jewelry‘s take on them:
You can see such detail in the weaving– how is she charging less than $10 for these??
I also love them in gold… kinda wishing I had seen these first!
It’s amazing what you can find on Etsy, so glad I stumbled across this one! Be sure to check out her shop for more great finds.
Do you have any favorite Etsy sellers?
I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that I am totally enthralled in the Royal Wedding. I’ve had a crush on Prince William since about 1997, but I am completely supportive of his relationship with Kate as long as I can follow along with their wedding plans.
I find Kate’s style to be so elegant and flawless– she’ll fit quite perfectly in the royal family, that’s for sure.
In honor of the wedding being just TWO weeks away, here’s my one of my Kate-inspired outfits, thanks to my new favorite online store, ModCloth. They have such a flair for British style, and it’s so much easier to order from San Francisco than London! I also included a few outside vendors for the jewelry, and if you can get your hands on that sapphire, then I say there is no reason why you can’t go mixing silver and gold!
I don’t think I’ve worn stripes since high school. When I got to college, I tried to mature my look and stay away from pieces I associated with cheap, mass produced summer collections at Old Navy and KMart. But suddenly, stripes are back, and stores like Forever 21 are overflowing with this trend. I especially love them in navy and gray, for a nautical look. For a dressier look, stay away from tanks and go for full or three-quarter length arms. Pair with a lace skirt and gold jewelry and you’re ready to set sail!
Thanks for bringing this cute and comfy look back, F21!
