We may be more seashells than Southern belles, but still had tons of fun sipping raspberry-infused juleps and celebrating the 139th Kentucky Derby! Did you don derby hats or sombreros during this beautiful spring weekend?
…Bring May Flowers
The Derby just seems like the best place to break out those May flowers that April showers brought us, no? This weekend, bust out the floral frocks and celebrate the arrival of spring with an icy mint julep!

This shirt does not sit well on me. But with ruffles, pastel birds, and a peplum frill, it’s still a favorite spring piece of mine. As are these yellow jeans. Which I’m realizing go with about ninety percent of my closet somehow… 🙂

For a New England girl, I happen to love the Southern tradition of the Kentucky Derby. I mean, give me some seersucker, bow sashes, and floppy hats any day and I’ll be happy, so I guess the Derby is really just an excuse… either way, I plan on betting some mint juleps this Saturday! Will you be celebrating? Or at least dressing for the occasion?
Shopping Is My Cardio: LOFT Grand Reopening
So excited to be recapping such a fun event that I had the pleasure of co-hosting last week! Boston’s LOFT location has just undergone a huge renovation, making it just about the prettiest store in town. On Thursday, Holly and Alana & Amy of Blog Better Boston and I welcomed shoppers to see the beautiful newly-completed shop in the Pru. Couldn’t make it? Take a glimpse around to see it for yourself…!
Tons of fun printed shorts right now! I’m loving these and these especially.
Sweet bow sandals
Nautical Striped Cotton Tank Dress
That striped maxi was a favorite of the night– seemed like half of the ladies in the store were walking out with it! Available here.
With the lovely Elissa from Style-Wire who works at LOFT!
What we’re wearing:
[ Emily:: Textured 3/4 Sleeve Cotton Sweater, Aqua Spritz Print Stretch Cotton Shorts ]
[ Elissa:: Paisley Print Short Sleeve Shift Dress ]
[ Holly: Striped Linen Tee, similar Zig Zag Mosaic Skirt ]

What do you all think of the new store + new arrivals? For more snippets, check out Holly’s recap and Amy’s here!
Full disclosure:: My outfit for the night was provided as a gift by Ann Taylor. All opinions expressed, both online and in person during said event, are my own.
April Showers…
One positive thing about April showers? The prospect of being kissed in the rain. Not to mention, some cute rainy-day gear.
(1) Ruffle Collar Trench Coat, Coffee Shop for Target, $60
(2) Pearl Twisted Hammock Necklace, J.Crew, $98
(3) Musee de Cluny Skirt, ModCloth, $35
(4) Pop Art Check Umbrella, Kate Spade, $78

Nautical Sequins
Cardigan, Old Navy + DIYed // Jeans, Forever21 [similar 1; 2] // Crossbody bag, American Eagle [similar] // Wrap Bracelet, KJPxBB // Sneakers, Polo Ralph Lauren [similar 1; 2]
I have been lusting after this Markus Lupfer sequin lobster sweater for far too long. Too long as in, it’s actually one of my first pins on my Pinterest. When I randomly came across these gold sequin anchor patches recently, I realized I could easily make my own version of the cardigan… for approximately $485 less. And I have hardly taken it off since.
Also, when did navy blue and pink begin to go so well together?
Join me at LOFT for a Grand Reopening Party!
I am so excited to be co-hosting this event with the darling Holly and beautiful ladies behind Blog Better Boston and LOFT!
Join me this Thursday, April 25 at the newly-renovated LOFT @ The Shops at The Prudential Center. Refreshments, live music, blogger pals, and shopping? What could be better? A $250 gift card you say? Yep, you could win that 🙂
Want to get excited? Check out LOFT’s newest summer arrivals…!
Questions? Leave ’em here or e-mail me! Otherwise I’ll see you at the Hynes Court in the Pru Thursday night! All are welcome– let’s get Boston back on its feet!
Bridget Meets Boston
My everyday style is definitely more East Coast than West Coast, but there’s something about California’s light and laid-back but still put-together way of dressing that I can’t help but love– especially in the warmer months.
No Rest For Bridget is a SoCal-based boutique that just opened its first store on the East Coast– conveniently for me and all you other Beantown gals, located on Newbury Street. Prices are super affordable, whether you’re looking for work wear, date night, or girls-night-out looks.
Virtually the entire store is organized by color. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited this makes me– when I shop, I’m shopping for specifics way more than I am browsing. I need a lavender dress for graduation. I’m looking for a pink top for my birthday. Really on the hunt for some mint jeans.
In addition to clothes, there’s jewelry and accessories galore. Color-coordinated, of course 🙂
You’ll also find fashion books and sweet accessories. I spotted the new Kate Spade book and this fashion title with Audrey gracing the cover!
Basically, run, don’t walk, to this store. If you’re not in Boston or California (see here for full list of locations), still be sure to follow NRFB on Twitter and Facebook to stay updated– more stores will be gracing the East Coast soon!

pssst! Because Bridget loves Boston, they are offering 20% off EVERYTHING in their Boston location from now until April 28. A portion of proceeds will be donated to help the victims + families of last week’s tragic events.
Anchored Down
I’m back to posting today because I know we have to at least attempt to return to a sense of normalcy around here. Monday’s events are still first on my mind, and my thoughts and prayers are still with the victims and all affected.
Dress, Jack Wills [similar] // Oxford, Gap [similar] // Sunglasses, Personalized From Me to You // Wrap Bracelet, KJP x Brooks Brothers // Wellies, Hunter
I’m just about done with pants for the year. And tights. Unless they are of a pastel color, pants are out and it’s dresses and skirts with bare legs from here on out. Until they no longer cause extreme goosebumps (seen below), oxfords and lower leg-covering footwear are in.
