Finally we have some sun + heat on our forecast for this week, because spring has been pretty gray, wet, and windy lately! Normally I’m all for vinbrant colors and prints to brighten up dreary days, but this particular one had me matching the weather…
It’s taken me a while to decide how I feel about Kate Spade’s newest venture: Saturday. I’ve loved the Kate Spade brand since I was a little girl, and it’s been fun to watch it grow and change over the years. Saturday, rightfully so as a separate brand, is entirely different from anything I’ve seen Kate Spade present before. With very bold, graphic prints, it definitely does not speak to the “classic” styles you see as a part of the original Kate Spade line. But you have to admit, while exactly full of timeless pieces, the new brand is rather fun…::

Talk about brights! I’m curious to know if their trademark highlighter yellow, pink, and black + white will stay the primary colors of the brand, or if they will eventually mix things up. And if anyone has made a purchase and can speak to the quality of the products, I’d love to hear!

And nothing has ever been more accurate. One day we’re pushing 80, the next I’m back to layers and pants. I have more tote bags than I know what to do with– “weekenders” most of them are called. Though I beg to differ, because none of my weekender bags really do much at all in the way of holding all of my possessions for a weekend trip. Maybe I just overpack(?!), but I’m pretty sure it’s that those totes aren’t really built for carrying 2+ outfits, an extra pair of shoes, night clothes, toiletries, jewelry, and so on.
Gosh I sound high-maintenance.
Anywho, I headed home for my dad’s birthday + Mother’s Day last weekend, and it was such a relief to have this new bag to pack with! Meet my Midway Weekender from functional-but-fun bag designer Po Campo. It fit a truly admirable amount of things– I’m talking two pairs of shoes, clothes for three days, my rain jacket, book, plus my obnoxious medicine, jewelry, and cosmetic cases.
These bags were actually designed for bikers– because in 2009, Chicagoans Maria Boustead and her then-business partner, Emily Taylor struggled to find stylish bags that functioned appropriately for their commutes. Man oh man do I wish these has existed back when I studied abroad and went everywhere on my bike!

I’ve been pretty darn into lobsters lately. Maybe it’s my crazy cozy recent purchase of this lobster sweater. I tend to go through a few casual-weekend uniforms a year, depending on the season. In early spring, I’m all about showing some leg + even open toes, while staying warm in the breeze with layers on top. This is totally my blogger dress. I got it at the LOFT Grand Reopening Party I hosted a couple weeks ago, and immediately wore it the following weekend to the Blog Better Boston Style Summit conference [which I totally have not recapped yet– eek!]. It is possibly the comfiest thing I have ever owned, and flatters every single person I have seen it on so far. And I mean, navy + white stripes…. how could I really resist?
Somewhat related to my blogger maxi, the past month has completely reminded me why I maintain this little corner of the internet of mine in the first place. The Boston blogging community is made up of some of the most kind-hearted, creative, and generous people I know. From the big things, like putting on incredibly informative conferences and hosting events and get-togethers, to the little, like sweet tweets to say hello and offering peer advice and insight when asked, this is a group that clearly supports each other. One that I am so proud and grateful to be a part of.
