One of the best things about our home was the fact that it was move-in ready– we were not looking to get into any reno’s whatsoever, at least not right off the bat. That being said, a turnkey apartment does leave less room for personalization, so we’ve had to add that through home accessories. While we eventually plan to upgrade our furniture, for now, a little bit of accessorizing is going a long way. And I’m SO excited to introduce you to a great supplier of such today:: Uncommon Goods.
We’ve always loved the aesthetics of West Elm and Anthropologie [ok, definitely more me on the latter], but our wallets don’t always agree with us. Uncommon Goods isn’t necessarily cheap, but it has a wide range of prices, and hundreds of much more affordable products. And their mission alone is enough to keep me as a customer:: They sell unique products created in harmony with the environment [next week is Earth Day y’all]. They operate out of Brooklyn, where even the lowest-paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage. And of course one of my favorite things? Most products are also made in America(!!).
Uncommon Goods sent me a few things to spiff up the new space, and they now end up being what everyone who visits comments on…
A snarky but also incredibly functional door mat to greet our guests with? What could be better? This mat is sadly too popular for its own good and sold out, but also love this one! (hehehe)
It’s shocking that no one had bought these old fashioned glasses for us already [guess who is who]. They’re kind of the most perfect housewarming or wedding gift for a couple– and tons of more ideas in that category here too!
Best part:: With every purchase, Uncommon Goods donates $1 to your choice of one of their non-profit organizations. Since starting the program 15 years ago, they have given more than $1M to charities around the world.
What’s not to love?
Mother’s Day is coming up, and I’m loving their endless collection of gift ideas. I’m sure I’ll also be turning to this page for birthday gifts this year [who doesn’t love something personalized?], and BF has even been keeping an eye on their groomsman gift collection for his guys.
I know you can’t WAIT to stock up on gifts for all those weddings and showers you’re attending this year, but let me know what you treat yourself to too 😉
