Little things getting me through the dumpster fire that is 2020!
Sweating // Not to be dramatic, but getting back into exercising post-baby has been a struggle, both physically and emotionally. I am embarrassingly sensitive to listening to others humble brag (I’m sorry!!!) about all of the fun virtual workouts they’ve been hitting five days a week. So I finally gave in when I saw 305 Fitness is hosting free daily classes on their YouTube channel. Did I make it through an entire class? Absolutely not. Did I feel just a teensy bit sexy better about myself anyway? Yeah, I get the hype. BUT best yet, no one can see me at home. Besides, you know, my husband and baby lurking in the corner of our studio apartment.
Stitching // In true quarantine fashion I have decided to attempt a new hobby. Truth be told, I didn’t know the difference between cross stitch and needlepoint a month ago, but now I’ve tried both and am totally drinking the Koolaid. I’m finding cross stitch to be more rewarding, having to follow a pattern and all that jazz, but needlepoint more mindless and relaxing. If you’re looking to hop on the beginner stitch n’ bitch train, I’ve loved learning through The Stranded Stitch‘s kits, and this Etsy shop has a ton of fun and affordable needlepoint canvases. Thörn Alexander’s free Beginner’s Guide was also SO helpful.

Drinking // Of course I gave in and made my own Dalgona Coffee, but it’s basically a Greek Frappe so let me remind you, I was here before it was trendy. The difference is in the froth, and the trick is in using an actual electric hand mixer. I also just received an A+ recommendation to add lavender syrup to the recipe.
Watching // We’re late to the party but loving Schitt’s Creek. I also plan on rewatching last night’s Parks & Rec special, an awesome Feeding America benefit, eight or so more times.
Sobbing // Both my best friend and Anderson Cooper became parents this week and I cry about once an hour thinking about it. The news we needed right now.

Unrelated to COVID, tomorrow also would have been the Derby Day Benefit for Mito that we attend every year. Mitochondrial Disease is a chronic illness that occurs when the mitochondria of the cell fail to produce enough energy for cell or organ function (textbook definition explains it better than I can). MitoAction has become a charity close to my heart, and while I don’t expect any donations, I’d love for you to take two minutes and educate yourself about this heartbreaking inherited disease.
