In continuing yesterday’s theme of color, I thought today would be a good Tuesday Shoesday to share some of the most fun neon pairs I’ve found lately. Besides my pillbox red Hunters, my bright mint green kitten heels, and my gold glitters TOMS, I am usually one to favor neutral footwear. But I just think some of these neon brights are too fun to resist!
Whew brights! Really makes you crave spring, huh?
I would say this has been one of my more colorful winter weeks so far. Linking up with a {little} dash of ash for an Instagram Monday!
[orange] clementines, one of the few great products of winter
[green] kate spade goodies’ packaging
[blue] finally saw blue man group in boston
[purple] shimmery eyeshadow for dreary days
Have you all seen the adorable line up of autumn flats at Anthropologie?
I’m loving all the color and texture, and here are some similar styles courtesy of Zappos Tuesday Shoesday. Bonus points if you can find which ones actually are being sold through Anthropologie as well!
After waiting an hour and a half plus a day, I finally got to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts! Dale Chihuly is an American glass blower who does these huge, intricate pieces. The art was breathtaking… the colors were absolutely stunning. I was silly and just assumed that photography wouldn’t be allowed so I didn’t bother lugging my DSLR… very stupid of me indeed because everyone had their cameras and now all I have are some little iPhone photos. Yet even from them I think you can tell how beautiful this stuff is! This is the last weekend it’s at the MFA, so if you’re in the area and able to see it my only advice is to get there super early to avoid lines/tickets selling out. I’m not sure where the works are headed next, but if you ever have the chance to see anything by Chihuly I highly suggest it!! Click the photos to see the crazy detailing closer up.
Now that I’ve got glass art on my mind, I’m so excited to go home this weekend to our town’s Heritage Days… a local glassblower opens her studio for demonstrations and a huge jewelry sale!
I have noticed a total lack of color in shoe stores lately. Don’t get me wrong, I love the nude pumps look and who can go resist neutral sandals and brown or black boots? But DSW and a number of other stores I went into last week were looking seriously dismal. So I thought we’d invite our friend Roy G. Biv over for today’s Tuesday Shoesday (and all finds are under $100!)…
Happy Monday kittens!
How were your weekends? Mine started off super hectic, as we had lots of visitors at the new house (and Puffy does not let visitors come to a dirty home!), but ended up very relaxing. On Thursday, the closest thing I’ve ever had to a little sister, Morgan of I Call it Lovely, came up to visit with her mama. She stayed in the city with me Thursday (I dragged her around apartment shopping and to dance class– what’s family for?), and then we spent the rest of the weekend at my parents’ house on the water.
We went out for seafood Saturday night and I finally got to use the gorgeous coral clutch she got me for my birthday. I loved how sharp the color looked against my white dress, and that’s what I had been waiting to use it with, but after seeing how Cupcakes and Cashmere paired hers, I know I need to be more adventurous with it. I figured out that it’s actually hard to find much that doesn’t go well with coral, especially in the summertime!
Having Morgan and her mom in town made me realize again how hard it’s going to be to not have my childhood home to go back to at holidays. We always have Christmas Eve with their family but now with the move it looks like we have new traditions to start! But like my mom said to Morgan’s, “those girls will always find their way back to each other.” And we will– love you sissy 🙂

This weather is driving me nutty. 54 degrees and raining in June– disgusting!! That’s why I’m doing everything I can to avoid giving in to these gray days by sticking with bright and fun colors. And what about this pink does not scream summer?
Honeysuckle is PANTONE‘s 2011 Color of the Year. I see Elle Woods, summer tennis matches, and berry sorbets.
Though I find it too bright to paint with, I see no reason to not wear it to brighten up these dreary days! Pair these pieces with white accents to really make the color pop:
