I remember taking my first barre class right around the time the trend was hitting Boston. It was a fundraiser for Alex‘s marathon team. I walked in there all, I dance, I got dis.
HO-LY HELL did it burn.
But, ok, I understood how, like, four trillion calories could be burned in one class {please don’t correct me if I’m wrong on that number}, so I was still entertained by the idea of this torture method. When it was time to sweat for the wed’, I, with additional guidance from fitness guru Alex, turned to Barre3’s online program. And I stuck with it! Until the honeymoon, that is.
Flash forward two and some years to Barre3’s first Boston-area brick-and-mortar studio:: Barre3 Brookline opened its doors in Washington Square this month, and that’s the motivation I’ve needed to finally jump back into a {hopefully!} regular workout routine.
Barre3 Brookline changes its choreography from class to class, but there are no levels—from beginners to robots, everyone takes the class at their own pace {#1poundweightsplease}. What sets it aside from other barre classes? I’ve struggled through quite a few different studio classes now, but I find comfort in Barre3 as it pulled poses and movements I was familiar with from pilates and yoga classes #3for1
But don’t get me wrong. It still burns the bum and then some.
Now I need you all to hold me to it! In the same vein that I believe Rifle Paper Co. notebooks will keep me more organized and cute kitchenware will force me to cook more, I’m telling myself that fun activewear will motivate me to hit the studio more. Don’t tell me otherwise.
