I remember being quite young and reading an article in some teen magazine or another about the coolest college campuses. Harvard University was on that list, due in large part– I’m sure– to the preppy-meets-hipster sanctuary that is Harvard Square. I spent this past unseasonably warm Saturday strolling between the Square and the Charles River, where The Head of the Charles Regatta was taking place– an October tradition I’ve tried to make a point to come to since I first moved to Boston. Clam chowder, pumpkin beer, and old fashioned sarsaparilla were enjoyed. I do recommend it.
Life starts all over again…
HerCampus Presents College Fashion Week
I’m two years out of college. I went to a college fashion show last week. #noshame
I just missed HerCampus— if this amazing college lifestyle website had been around when I was still in school, I guarantee I would have been first in line trying to write for it. I did have the fun opportunity last week, though, to attend the Boston leg of their College Fashion Week— a fashion show at The Estate featuring student models and read-to-wear fall styles. As if I didn’t want to go back to college enough already, I do even more so now…
post script. Those studs in black and white? The Dear Abbeys from BU. If you like a cappella, check them out. If you don’t, check them out and they’re change your mind.
Spots of Tea
A couple of weeks ago, my mother and I dressed for High Tea at Boston’s London Cafe on Newbury Street. Located beneath the boutique hotel Royalton Suites, the tearoom was intimate and welcoming. It didn’t have quite the cute factor of other tea shops I’ve visited in the area, with their dainty floral china and knit cozies, but it did feel quite traditional.
Any Boston friends have recommendations for other good tea rooms in the area?
Boston Lately
Introducing: Skiler Love
Boston isn’t New York. Boston doesn’t try to be New York. But in all fairness, this city is home to a lot of local design talent, NY Fashion Week or no. I met with Alyssa Davis, designer behind Skiler Love, a recently launched jewelry line, and I am so excited to introduce you to her brand and invite you to her upcoming launch.
From bangles to body chains and charms to brooches, her newest collection, entitled Bohemian Luxe, is “one part vintage charm, a dose of modern simplicity and a stylish sized portion of individuality.” They are unique and feminine with just the right amount of edginess– and so very delicate. Plus, prices will range for just about all budgets. Take a look at some of my favorite pieces that will be available soon…!
The Bohemian Luxe Collection will be available for purchase online starting October 1st, but all of my local readers are welcome to attend her Boston Fashion Week Launch Party and Fashion Show on September 30th at The Greatest Bar in Boston. Entry is free, just RSVP here!
#FNOBoston
September 6th marked Fashion’s Night Out in cities all across the country and all over the world. I was so impressed with Boston’s participation– for only being our second year hosting, the city really went all out. I took on Newbury Street for the night. Shopping, spending, and sipping ensued.

Sweets for Shopping
I am counting the hours until Fashion’s Night Out in Boston tonight! I’ll be sticking to Newbury Street + Copley Place and am ready to pack an unhealthy amount of browsing + shopping into three hours. I’m especially looking forward to recharging at Sweet Cupcakes— in true stylish Sweet form, they have partnered with local designers Daniela Corte, Michael De Paulo, and Mike&Ton to create limited edition FNO cupcakes for the soiree… how adorable are these?!
Sweet on Newbury is also offering complimentary FNO frosting shots to anyone who stops in!

I share my love for Boston on here quite often. What I don’t share enough is my love for that little town over the river known as Cambridge. I’ve been spending lazy weekend afternoons there lately, and these photos come from a stroll around Harvard’s campus– an area I don’t get to nearly as much as I’d like to ever since I moved to this side of the Charles.
post script. This pretty scarf bag is from Angela & Roi, and don’t forget– they are offering 20% off one handbag of your choice to so anthro readers!
As you check out, enter coupon code EMSA881 from now until October 30. They are also offering free shipping as a part of their launch promotion for all customers 🙂
