One may ask why, with a one-and-a-half-year old in tow, am I discussing birth announcements with you all today? BeCAUSE cutie expecting and/or existing mamas and pops, I’m in denial that my baby isn’t a baby it’s my job to keep you from making my mistakes!
We’ve used the same card printing service for every need since our wedding invitations (am I alone here?), so when the time came to print some creative birth announcements post-Ellie’s arrival, I didn’t bother looking elsewhere. It’s so easy to say now that I wish I knew of Basic Invite then, which has got to be the most customizable place on the internet to design birth announcements online, with virtually unlimited options.
Seriously: 180 colors to choose from means you can take any one of their 350+ designs and customize it in an entirely different colorway. I played around with changing fonts, text, backsides, envelopes…honestly don’t think I realized how limited I had been with my last card-printing platform. Even just being able to shift the text placement a little was so satisfying and something that sets them apart.
Don’t trust your computer screen? Same. You should see me trying to pick my new kitchen cabinet paint color. Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows you to order printed samples, so you have a clearer idea of paper quality and how it will print in real life.
Another fun perk: Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that allows you to share a link on your social accounts to request friends’ and family’s addresses. They’re automatically stored in your account, and can be used for their complimentary recipient address printing. Say what!!
My samples L–>R:
Welcome to the World
Little Leaves
Cute Collage
Flower Garden
Framed Perfection
Everything at Basic Invite is 15% off until the end of February (and birth announcements themselves are 40% off if you’re in the market before this Sunday, 2/21!), so now would probably be a great time for me to mention they do far more than baby collateral. The full wedding suite, other invitations, beautiful stationery and some reeeaaalll cute clear business cards I’ve been eyeing.
I remember the postpartum feeling of being fresh out of brainpower, yet also caring so much about designing the perfect announcement that we would cherish forever. Basic Invite made it easy to do just that. And hey, if you, too, are a little too foggy with visions of 3am blowouts and sitz baths to let your creativity shine, the predesigned simple birth announcements are darling as is—all you have to remember is your baby’s name, birthdate, and measurements. Which I am terrified to admit to you I may have had to personally look up, so no judgment here.
