Not that I am anywhere close to ever needing one of these, but how beautiful is this video showcasing BHLDN‘s new gowns?
It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland or something. Gives me butterflies!
Oh am I loving bicycles right now (see left).
Seen around town:
And seen in The Netherlands during my summer abroad program circa 2009:
Oh the memories. Once made the mistake of wearing a dress while riding by some 14-year-old Dutch boys. Never again.
Ugh I know I named this little guy but I can’t remember what!
Paper Source loves bikes too. Check out all of their goodies here.
Have you seen any cute bicycles lately? Besides the Lilly Pulitzer Printed Cruiser which I want so badly?
Have you all seen the adorable line up of autumn flats at Anthropologie?
I’m loving all the color and texture, and here are some similar styles courtesy of Zappos Tuesday Shoesday. Bonus points if you can find which ones actually are being sold through Anthropologie as well!
My whole life, my family has spent Augusts in a little harbor town on the south shore of Massachusetts, just down the road from a lighthouse. This past weekend, the town celebrated its annual Heritage Days, but it was especially exciting this year because that lighthouse that I grew up with, built in 1811, celebrates its 200th birthday this year! I thought it was the perfect excuse to wear my new Sailboat Skirt, courtesy of an Anthropologie second-cuts sale 🙂
Heritage Days was also super special this year because, for the first time, we are actual residents of the town! Since I’ve been out of the house for a few years now and my little brother graduated high school in June and is on his way to college himself, my parents finally made the move to their dream town (and my mom’s Barbie Dream House… more features on that later). Heritage Weekend is filled with lots of music, food, and sidewalk sales, but my favorite part is Luminaria. To kick off the weekend, every resident along the harbor lines their property with luminaries on the Friday night.
It’s just as beautiful to me today as it has been for the last twenty some years of coming here, and I’m so glad we finally get to call this home.
I don’t know how this was ever officially decided on, but sometime over the last few years, the hummingbird became the official mascot of my apartment/roommates (better known as Green Street Girls).
Missing these girls more than ever, hummingbirds have been on my mind a lot lately. Amanda sent us a photo of this cookbook last week, available from (of course) Anthropologie.
They’re not a trend right now, I can say that for sure, but I managed to scour a few hummingbird fashions on the shelves right now:
Outside the MFA in the very first Anthropologie dress I ever owned... been growing in and out of it since 2007 😉
After waiting an hour and a half plus a day, I finally got to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts! Dale Chihuly is an American glass blower who does these huge, intricate pieces. The art was breathtaking… the colors were absolutely stunning. I was silly and just assumed that photography wouldn’t be allowed so I didn’t bother lugging my DSLR… very stupid of me indeed because everyone had their cameras and now all I have are some little iPhone photos. Yet even from them I think you can tell how beautiful this stuff is! This is the last weekend it’s at the MFA, so if you’re in the area and able to see it my only advice is to get there super early to avoid lines/tickets selling out. I’m not sure where the works are headed next, but if you ever have the chance to see anything by Chihuly I highly suggest it!! Click the photos to see the crazy detailing closer up.
Now that I’ve got glass art on my mind, I’m so excited to go home this weekend to our town’s Heritage Days… a local glassblower opens her studio for demonstrations and a huge jewelry sale!

I’ll say it: I like the feather hair extension trend.
But if you’re like me, you don’t like getting stuck with permanent accessories you have to match all outfits too, and the idea of crimping a feather into your hair makes you a little nervous…
Luckily, queen of all hipsters Urban Outfitters has some alternatives:
A single earring…
A temporary clip…
Or a headband…
Ugh I so wish I could pull off this look!
Well, not me. I don’t think these culottes qualify.
If you’re a blogger I follow who has done a post on shorts this summer, then you’ve probably noticed from my comments how in love with them I am. I finally got my hands on this pair of Dragonfly Culottes from Anthropologie a few weeks ago, and I adore them. So soft and easy to throw on for a casual Friday.
I’m still on the hunt for lace ones, and now that the season is almost over I’m hoping to scour some on the sale racks. If you spot any, tips as to where I could as well would be greatly appreciated!
Also, started down pouring on my way home from work yesterday… had to take cover and where better to do so than an Anthro? Made it out with a couple great sale finds that I am so excited to show off, so look for them soon!
I legitimately still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about The Royal Wedding. Even from thousands of miles away and through the tube, it was such a magical event to watch. And Princess Kate is quickly becoming my style icon…!
As you’ve probably heard, The Duchess of Cambridge’s gown and accessories are now on display at Buckingham Palace through October 3. This exhibit is giving us a much closer look at the Alexander McQueen lace shoes from the wedding that were quite difficult to get a good glimpse of under the gown.
So far, it’s pretty clear to see from today’s Tuesday Shoesday look at Zappos that Kate has done it again. The next trend? Lace heels. No wedding needed.

When I was in high school, every morning during homeroom after the daily announcements, this super peppy girl (whose name I guiltily cannot even remember!) would come on the intercom with a famous quote, saying, just something that was meant to be inspiring to the lackluster group of pubescent teens who hardly had their eyes open at this hour, let alone their ears or brains.
She would end every words-of-wisdom session with a phrase of her own: Make it a great day or not, the choice is yours.
I haven’t heard that voice in at least six or so years, but for some reason, I can’t get those words out of my head lately.
So here’s to a great Monday. A great week. A great August. If you want, that is.
The choice is yours 🙂
