Well it has been quite sparkly week here huh? Even more fitting then that today’s Friday’s Fancies on {long distance loving} is themed Sparkle & Shine! My wishlist is overflowing with sequin-encrusted pieces right now, but here’s an outfit featuring just a few of my favorites. I love the idea of this Anthropolgie sequin bolero, mostly because I have inherited a rather sparkly bolero myself from my own mom. Maybe I’ll bust it out in an OOTD if you’re lucky and I’m feeling brave 🙂

If you’re a member of the fashion blogging community, Spike the Punch is probably no stranger to you. These unique hand-painted crystal necklaces have gained popularity so fast that Elizabeth can barely keep them on the shelves! I was lucky to snag this neon yellow and pink one, but I’m dying to get my hands on more color combos soon!

When I first saw tassel garland on Cupcakes and Cashmere, I fell a little bit in love with the idea of a shimmering wall. That’s why I was SO excited to hear about Etsy shop Pomflair who does their own version– much more affordable and customizable with any colors!

I want to stack my whole arm in these bfrend bracelets. You know Monika from The Doctor’s Closet, and I guarantee that you will find her jewelry just as fun as her blog. Shown above is the tassel bracelet, but you have got to check out her neon cobra versions as well.

New goal in life? To be the next big Etsy shop. Who knows. Maybe 2012 will grace me with that. But in the meantime, what are some other shops I should check out??

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-I own two hats that I love but that are also a bit embarrassing. A sequin beret and  a winter panda hat with ear flaps. Yeah. On the same day this week, I saw what appeared to be a 3-year old wearing my panda hat, and who I assumed to be was his grandmother wearing my sequin beret. Starting to question my life choices.
-Flash mobs. I may or may not have been in one. You can see the evidence on NBC News here.
-My neighborhood sushi chef recognizes me now. Too many Philadelphia Rolls have I eaten recently.

Awesome:
-Dance show this weekend!! Grueling tech rehearsals leading up to it, but the final result is always so worth it.
-Grandeskinnypeppermintmochas getting me through these long nights!
-One of my good bloggy friends, Jennifer, sponsors causes every month on her blog. Right now she is teaming up with Awake & Alive to help them open a school for students in Ethiopia next fall. You can learn more about it here, but know that just $10 provides uniforms for a child. In honor of World AIDS Day yesterday, {av}‘s Friday’s Fancies is themed Fashionably Inspi(red). Join(RED) is a program that works all year round to eliminate this terrible epidemic, fighting to deliver an AIDS Free Generation.

The work that my classmates used to do to support this cause always made me so incredibly proud. Emerson Fights AIDS Week is put on every year by my alma mater’s Musical Theater Society and an EFA Committee, but it was, and is still, something that virtually every organization on campus participates in and donates to.
