Romper Season

A white romper may be one of the most impractical articles of clothing to have ever graced my closet, but I’ve been on the hunt for one since this one sold out and this one looked like a giant diaper on me [but oh my god if you can rock this please do so I can live vicariously through you]. Then I finally found the golden ticket! I’ve had such fun dressing it up with heels and statement jewelry, but also down with sandals and cozy cardis. One of those great day–>night pieces, amirite? Not that you’ll catch me wearing this in the office anytime soon.

Pajama Pants + The Dressing Room Diaries

These pants you guys. I’ve had a lot of treasured articles of clothing in my time, but these pants (a Kohl’s find, mind you) are battling for the title of comfiest thing I’ve ever owned. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to snazz them up with heels and a tighter-fitting top, but instead they have become my new favorite beach/travel/lounge pant.

And let me tell you ’bout this top! This. This is the sign of victory. The remnants of a Sunday morning spent in battle at Lilly for Target, in which I literally had to haggle IN THE DRESSING ROOM with an angry mother whose cart looked like this.

But so worth it.

Hey gals. Thanks for sticking with me in this month of on-and-off radio silence. More like year. I’ve been a bad blogger and an even worse blog friend. We have had the best few weeks but I am just a liiiittle bit glad to return to normalcy and get back into our routine, minus wedding planning and house hunting // plus extra bling on my finger.

So here’s a lazy-day outfit post. Because nothing says welcome, Memorial Day Weekend, like a t-shirt with some French gibberish on it.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Limoncello

And a limoncello recipe for good measure…!

limoncello from luscious liqueurs by a.j. rathbun
makes about 3 1/2 pints

[ ingredients ]
4 cups grain alcohol
14 lemons
3 cups simple syrup

[ directions ]
one // wash, dry, and peel the lemons, trimming away any white pith. put the peels in a glass container with a tight-fitting lid.
two // add the grain alcohol and seal. place in a cool, dry spot away from sunlight. let sit for 2 weeks.
three // add the simple syrup, stir, and reseal. return to its spot. let sit for two more weeks.
four // strain the liqueur through a double layer of cheesecloth into a pitcher or other easy-pouring vessel. strain again through 2 new layers of cheesecloth into 1 large bottle or a number of small bottles or jars.

[ a cocktail suggestion ]
fill a collins glass three-quarters full with ice cubes. add 1 1/2 ounces limoncello. fill to about 1/2 inch from the top with chilled club soda. add 5 or 6 fresh raspberries, and stir well.

In the spirit of being in the tropics, I’m ditching my typical New Englandy blue+white stripes and opting for some bright coral hues! Flamingos are having a moment right now, and do I love a good animal (bird?) motif. I’m giving Kate Spade credit for this one, just as I gave Tory Burch credit for the fall of foxes, and I’m going to blame the upcoming giraffe trend on Lilly Pulitzer for Target…

Truro Vineyards

Hi friends! Back for the briefest of moments before jetting off again!

Call me cliche, but we could never have even imagined a more perfect wedding day. I can’t wait to tell you about it sometime 🙂

For now, I’m leaving you with a few snapshots from our minimoon! We stayed down the Cape for a couple days following wedding weekend, and spent one at Truro Vineyards. Where, mind you, the wine bottles are shaped like lighthouses. So it already had that going for it.

For ten buckaroos you get to choose five wines to taste, or try all ten between a couple. Finding activities on Cape Cod isn’t the easiest in the off-season, but the grounds are open until 5 all through May, with tastings every half hour. Tours start Memorial Day Weekend!
