Anthro Kitchen Favorites
I will be the first to admit that I am a terrible embarrassment to my day job as a cookbook publisher: Not only am I an extremely mediocre cook (and that’s being generous), but I also have the most despicable kitchen! Blame it on my 100-year-old North End apartment and its lack of counter and storage space, but daily, I dream of having a beautiful, light kitchen, with enough room to a) spread out and, well, cook, and b) store and display such beautiful kitchen goodies as these:
[ 1 ] Bistro Canisters, $14-$24
[ 2 ] Jardin de Plantes Spoons, $8-$10
[ 3 ] Farmers Market Basket, $14
[ 4 ] Pedal Power Dishtowel, $22
[ 5 ] 1932 Bergamo Mini Cookware, $48
[ 6 ] Glittering Silverware, $34-$78 (also available in gold!)
[ 7 ] Stripes Abound Apron, $36
[ 8 ] Whale Cutting Board, $98
[ 9 ] Chroma Juice Press, $175
What would you fill your dream kitchen with?
Weekend To Do List
[ Rugby Ruffle Ankle Sock, Free People, $14 ]
This Weekend:
1. Cozy up in a pair of your knobbiest socks with this cup of hot chocolate and stop hating on winter, because remember: these types of activities are unwelcome in the warmer months.
2. Stop by my Free People event in Harvard Square on Saturday! There’s also a Chocolate Festival going on, as if you needed more incentive.
Have a great one you all!
How To: Pack for Winter Weekends
Cutie pies! Catch me over on the darling Amy’s blog today [Cupcakes & Couture], where I’m sharing my best packing tips for winter weekends away! Then let me know: what are your must-haves for ski trips and cozy jaunts to the mountains? And where are your favorite cold-weather destinations in New England?
Gold Dots; Navy Stripes
Gold Dots Sweater, LC Lauren Conrad | Excursion Vest, J.Crew | Jeans, H&M | Camera Bag, Kate Spade [similar] | Pearls, vintage [similar] | Anchor Bangle, Lilly Pulitzer [similar] | Rain Boots, Hunter (currently on sale!)
I have nothing worthy to say about this outfit, except to admit that I’ve been wearing it just a bit too often lately. I’m in the midst of a love affair with this vest [see here//here//here if you’ve ever wondered if you’ll get enough use out of a navy + white striped puffer vest] as well as with anything gold, and I apologize that you’ve all had to witness it.
Happy Wednesday mah luvs! Be safe out there in the snow!
Tipsy Tuesday No.10: For All the Lovers Out There
The true January temperatures are back this week… meaning the only sort of social drinking I will be doing in the foreseeable future is most likely going to have hot chocolate as a base. This spiked mocha-like drink is the perfect mix of coffee, chocolate, and spirits, and—looking ahead to Valentine’s Day next month—is quite seasonally themed.

The Blues Jean Bar + BJB Express!
I won’t lie, I do like to shop. As in, actually stroll Newbury Street or through a strip mall and go shopping— I’m not one of those people who prefers to just order online [if I do it’s because I’ve been sucked in and made an impulse purchase– oops!]. BUT that personal preference didn’t make my experience with Express Box by BJB any less enjoyable… because WHO does not love coming home to a package, especially one full of outfits upon outfits personally selected for you?
Here’s the gist: you may already be familiar with The Blues Jean Bar, the ultimate boutique for finding denim in a super comfortable setting, but recently they introduced BJB Express, and jeans are just the beginning. Six hand-picked outfits curated just for you and sent straight to your doorstep. You have 10 days to figure out which pieces you love and which you can live without, and you pay only for what you keep. Shipping to you + back is free; all you are charged is a $1 deposit.
So if you are one of those ladies who hates to try on clothes in public dressing rooms, gets flustered in crowded shops, or just can’t find the time to shop in a manner other than online, this is the service for you. If you love it, keep using it! You can have a box sent to you as often or infrequently as you like; this is the Birchbox of the fashion world but without the monthly subscription obligation.
The most fun part of this all [besides the Christmas-morning like feel of opening the box]? Filling out my style profile and seeing what stylists Scottie and Marnee put together for me!
[ Key Pieces ]
Henry & Belle Micro Flare Jeans
Henry & Belle Super Skinny Jeans
AS by DF Tweed Blazer
BJB Floral Blazer
AS by DF Alessandra Dress
ASTARS Violet Long Sleeve Top
Rory Beca Gus Long Sleeve Open Back Top
AS by DF Jacket [similar]
Funny enough, I think BF made the smartest comment of all about this shopping service: I may have not picked up some of these pieces off the rack on my own, but once they were already in my house and I was free to try them on at my leisure, I didn’t want to have to send them back!
The Blues Jean Bar is offering my readers 20% off any purchases you make from your first Express Box. Sign up for your box here, and in the referral portion of the application, mention shell chic’d for your 20%-off discount! Remember, you will only be charged for what you decide to keep, and I hope that discount entices you to keep a bit more 🙂
Full disclosure: I was compensated with a BJB gift card in exchange for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.
