Over the last 14 months (sub, ok, six of the winter ones), picnics kind of became our saving grace. It felt like our only option for a social activity, our only option for al fresco dining, and sometimes our only option for making it through a car ride with a screaming hungry toddler! Shoutout to Minuteman Park in Concord that saved our sanity one fine September day.
The snow has finally almost melted (nothing Massholes identify with more than a mid-April snowstorm), so it’s picnic szn yet again.
My first of the year was fueled by a large chunk of brie, two-foot long bageutte, and–most importantly–Mirabelle Selects, a curated wine club based here in New England(!!), but that represents small, family-owned wineries in France and Spain. I tried their three-bottle collection from the Rhone Valley of France, with white and red Côtes du Rhônes and a Syrah (something I never think to buy for myself).
I can say without hesitation that I have not been into anything resembling a liquor store in over a year, and I find browsing for wine online super overwhelming and more work than fun, so this was the perfect time to try a wine club. It takes the guesswork out of wine delivery, and means that’s one less errand I have to run in public. Because let’s be honest, even post-vax, I’m in no hurry to go back to those.
Side note, while I’m here to tell you about the Mirabelle Selects wine subscription, you have to check out their Virtual Wine Tastings (next one is coming up on 4/28). And in what will come as a surprise to no one, I’m also dying to try Mirabelle Selects’ Rosé Kit (under $50!).
All in all, super impressed with this brand—love their commitment to sustainability, focus on small and family-owned, and, of course, the local New England tie.
Cheers, m’dears.

Hi! This is such a lovely post. I really miss going out — hanging out by the park, beach, or having a picnic. So, this is such a joy to read. The wine selection looks great also. Thank you for sharing this! Looking forward to reading more of your posts 🙂
