Y’all know I love a good Made in New England story, right? That, coupled with my recent efforts to shop more sustainably, means I am crushing hard on Sea Bags. It feels like just about every New England coastal town (except, ahem, Scituate) is home to a shop, but if you aren’t familiar with the brand, I’d be pleased as punch to introduce you.
Sea Bags are handcrafted from recycled sails in Portland, Maine. Because of that, each one is unique, sustainable, and super durable. In 20 years, they’ve saved over 700 tons of sails from being thrown away in landfills. Rockstars I tell ya.
I’m no stranger to this brand. One of my best friends gave us all wristlets when she asked us to be her bridesmaids. The wine bags are one of my favorite hostess or engagement gifts to give. And Sara Fitz—one of my favorite illustrators—launched a collaboration with Sea Bags last year which I was all over. This one was my push present to myself (😉 ), and I scooped this guy up to use for needlepoint supplies earlier this year.
Anyway, I’m babbling—I’m really here to show you the just-released Summer Collection! The Sea Bags team sent me the Navy and Red Pier Tote which has been perfect for many things including but not limited to the following:
- Beach supplies, for all of the times we pack to go to the beach, get there, panic because of the crowds, and leave.
- Toting every toiletry I own back and forth between Brookline and Scituate every weekend, as opposed to doing the logical thing and keeping a set in each place.
- Literally anywhere we take Eloise. Before having children, one has no idea how easily you can fill a large tote bag with diapers, teething crackers, formula, and other supplies required to take a baby out of the house for an hour.
- Wine.

Peeking at the price tag, I think it’s important to remember that these aren’t your run-of-the-mill mass-produced beach bags—each is handcrafted, down to the details, in Maine using all US-sourced materials. Every single bag is one of a kind and, quite literally, irreplaceable.
The rest of the new arrivals scream New England summers in the best of ways…now excuse me while I go add the Lobster Bake Tote to my cart.
