Ellie’s Coastal Chic Nursery

Before bebe arrived, we were tasked with the challenge of preparing her ~gender neutral~ bedroom. I made the mistake of spending two minutes searching this term on Pinterest, got magnificently overwhelmed, and decided to take matters into my own hands.

I’ve always loved this photo of one of my favorite doors on Nantucket, and it ended up being the starting point for what molded into a Cape Cod & islands-inspired coastal nursery. Lots of whales, wicker, greens and grays. No-no-no anchors. Contrary to what this blog preached from roughly 2011-2015, I am over all kitschy nautical motifs so stop typecasting me thank you.

And because we absolutely positively refuse to move the the suburbs remain city dwellers in a two-bedroom, the nursery also has to continue serving its original purpose of guest room, hence the daybed which, ironically, serves as a couch by day. Yes! This is in fact how we prevent guests.
