As we near the five-year anniversary of baby blogaroo, I have to stop and laugh at how much can change in half a decade. Seems like just days ago I was showing you my college apartment. Now I’m diving into a bathroom remodel with my husband, in the condo we bought together.
Silly reminiscing aside, I think we’re finally taking the plunge on the watercloset reno. Our apartment being turnkey was such a blessing, but a year and a half in, we are ready to say baiii felicia to the workable, but unfavorable, pink bathroom circa 1972.
We’ve saved [how can you forget our CapOne discussions?], but are still working within a budget. Doesn’t hurt to dream big though right?!

Thinking that in a perfect world, we’ll end up in some odd mix of fresh, bright, and vintage, with a rustic touch or two thrown in. And clearly, I’m itching for a clawfoot tub and subway tile bathroom.
I’m thinking if these guys can do it, we can too. Colored tile victims unite.
And some fresh accessories for when we seal the deal…!
Have you done a bathroom reno? Do share your tips–we’re more than a little nervous!

Ohhhh, I love the way the photo in #8 uses that numbered rack from Target. it’s on clearance, & I was thinking about buying it but wasn’t sure what to do with it. I’M GOING TO DO THIS WITH IT, THAT’S WHAT. Good luck on your remodel!

YAY love when that happens! Thank god for blog posts that let me eventually justify purchases I already made…”oh so THAT’S how I can wear it!” 🙂

Fun fun! Reno’s are great, but scary. My first recommendation is that if you are using a contractor… get a reputable one and 100% get a contract. Include in the contract a schedule for when things will get done, and make sure you pay them ~after~ that work has been completed. I they are reputable, they won’t have a problem with that. Also, another good thing is a late clause – if your contractor doesn’t finish by the date agreed upon, he has to start paying you money. It’s motivation for them… and seriously, I have learned the hard way, it is so worth it to have. The other thing I can share is if you want nice and inexpensive white subway tile, the best place is Buddy Tile in Norwood. They are by far the best price I have found in the greater Boston area. Best wishes!!!

Thank you SO MUCH Bethany, this is so helpful and things I would not have thought of! We are reading lots of reviews + getting numerous quotes but I love the idea of enforcing a schedule. Really appreciate this!!
