We’re in the midst of one of my least favorite seasons. That in which the following occurs every. single. morning::
8:04am :: Lock apartment door.
8:05am :: Forgot phone. Unlock door, grab phone, re-lock.
8:06am :: Forgot lunch. Screw it, Flour it is.
8:07am :: Emerge from building. HI hello winter!
8:10am :: Wait for T [that’s our Boston public transit service for you muggles]. Contemplate Ubering to prevent frostbite.
8:16am :: Board T. Instantly break into a sweat worthy of a thousand deserts.
8:17am :: Struggle to remove coat. Hit four people in the process. Heat stroke only worsens due to stress.
8:37am :: Emerge from T. Sweat turns cold. Freeze again.
Rinse and repeat x5
And the only solution to this first world problem as far as I have been able to tell is puffer vests. Just enough coverage to keep you warm outside, not enough to make you overheat inside. They’re like the open-toed booties of outerwear. At least that’s how I justify having 7 of them in my closet right now.
Fat Face UK [funny name, great brand] sent me their Kimberley Vest to get me prepped for this in-between season, and it is irresisssstibly cozy, without being smothering. It comes in six colors and I’m wondering just how many is too many… Fat Face also launched a new line of denim this fall– new fits, new washes, seriously comfy. And I’m picky about my jeans. I’m wearing the Vintage Super Skinny Jeans, which are a steal at only $65. Being a big budget shopper, I don’t use that word lightly, but when’s the last time you found great quality, well fitting denim at under $100?

Fat Face is based in the UK, which is reason enough to pique my interest, any they’re now shipping to the US [free for orders over $100!]. I’ve filled my wish list with a bunch more items from their new season edit, including this fairisle Christmas sweater and lace-trim sweater. Just remember to keep the US–>UK size conversions in mind chaps!

You described that morning winter routine PERFECTLY. Ugh, I have the worst time with going from freezing to sweltering and back as well! This vest seems like the perfect way to handle this, adding it to my wishlist! 🙂

That vest is so great! Public transportation is not without it’s challenges, but at least you have it, right?
