Boy I’ll tell ya, it is really difficult to live in my little Italian neighborhood sometimes. I am literally surrounded by carbs, cannolis, and cappuccinos. Oh and cupcakes. Cannot forget cupcakes.
Despite all of the famous bakeries in the North End of Boston (Mike’s, Modern, etc.), my favorite is tiny Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe. Call me crazy, but I’d take one of their s’mores cupcakes and a bag of candy over a cannoli any day.

I moved away from Boston 5 months ago, and this is one of the places I truly miss! If I had a rough day, sometimes I would take the T from Harvard Sq just to pick up a few cupcakes!
Remember when they closed their Hanover St location a few years ago? I thought my dessert life was over! Then, a year or so later, I accidentally stumbled on their new location on my way to find an ATM. I was a magical day filled with chocolate cupcakes and vanilla buttercream frosting.

We always go there to get cupcakes for work, and the salted caramel is totally my favorite 🙂
Oh YUM! It would definitely make me a lot….fatter…if I lived in the North End surrounded by all that goodness 🙂

Everybody talks about Sweet, but I think their cupcakes are so overrated. Lulu’s and South End Buttery have the best cupcakes in my opinion.
