Easy Weekend Wear

I tend to go through a few casual-weekend uniforms a year, depending on the season. In early spring, I’m all about showing some leg + even open toes, while staying warm in the breeze with layers on top. I don’t think it’s possible to own too many comfy high-waisted skirts, and I have been living in my denim jacket this month!

Weekends are for bakeries

tatte bakery

I admit it. I’ve been hibernating this winter. Exploring new neighborhoods and trying out new places just has not been high on my list of priorities in this bitter cold. But Saturday brought us some sun in the morning, as well as milder temperatures, so it was off to a new bakery I went! Tatte Fine Cookies and Cakes has been sweetening up Brookline since 2008, and has that warm rustic feel that makes me want to sit there and sip my chai latte for hours on end.

Acorn Street & Other Doors

Off of Beacon Street in Boston, nestled just enough into cozy Beacon Hill lies Acorn Street. Cobblestones + row houses + puppies make it the most photographic little nook.

The Hamptons

Sixteen plus hours spent in buses and cars this past weekend was no walk in the park, but was more than worth it for a trip to East Hampton, New York to surprise + celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays. As much as I love New England in the summer, it was a real treat to take a mini vacation to The Hamptons and enjoy some super soft sand, noticeably warmer ocean water, beach bonfires, and of course drinks + laughter with a group of my best college friends.

Weekend trips like these are what constantly keep my motivation up, especially on Mondays! Do you have any planned for this summer?

Weekends at Home

These past four days were exactly what I needed. Weekends at our new home are perfectly filled with lots of:

crafting.

sparkle.

seafaring.

and not-too-bad views.

I hope you all had wonderful Thanksgiving weekends full of whatever makes you happy too :) Linking up with a {little} dash of ash with these Instagrams! Happy Monday!

Baseball > Hurricanes

Well Irene, I think you’ve made your point! I hope all of you and your families and homes safely avoided her wrath. What a damper she caused on everyone’s weekends.

Or, tried to cause on ours. We had Red Sox tickets and since MLB refused to call off the game (despite the pouring rain), and since my dad refused to let the tickets go to waste (we weren’t getting refunded), we ventured out into the storm for some good ‘ol fashioned baseball. Ponchos and all.

I’ve been in Boston for four years now, yet this was the first Sox game I’ve made it to. Can’t say this is how I pictured it, but it was definitely a fun adventure nonetheless. My brother even had his hands on one of the fly balls! Until a grandpa grabbed it out of his hands, that is. It’s okay he had a cute grandson, we forgive him.

And then Sunday the crazy lady hit. And boy did that wind howl, from about 10 am yesterday and all through last night. Here’s the nautical outfit I wore to brave the storm, props to A Little Bit of Lacquer for the idea!

We’re still without power (I’m blogging from the train), so yesterday was full of candlelit board games and reading. Well, reading for my mom. Now that I’m a Kindle-kind-of-girl I couldn’t even read since our WiFi was out and I had no new books! Pathetic I am in this day and age, I tell ya.

But in all seriousness, I hope none of you had to experience anything worse than a power outage from Irene. My town definitely has some clean up and repairing to do, but more than anything we were lucky.

I’m linking up with a {little} dash of ash again today to share all these Instagrams. You all should as well, I want to hear your weekend/Irene stories!
