Packing for the Vineyard

… Martha’s Vineyard that is. Where I am headed in just four short days for some [finally] vacation time!

Destination: Martha's Vineayrd

[ 1 ] Classic Tote (Vineyard Vines, $95):: As a souvenir if for nothing else!

[ 2 ] Nautical Bathing Suit (J.Crew top, $40 + bottom, $25):: Beach days on Aquinnah are ahead.

[ 3 ] Murfee Scarf (Lilly Pulitzer, $118):: To use as a shawl during chilly nights.

[ 4 ] Linen Sweater (J.Crew, $54 [sale!]):: The perfect weight for summer.

[ 5 ] Baseball Hat (Marley Lilly, $25):: For saving my pale face from the sun!

[ 6 ] Cookbooks (The Cape Cod Table by Lora Brody, $16):: We want to save money by cooking instead of eating out every meal, and why not cater to where we are?

[ 7 ] Bottle Opener (ModCloth, $13):: Adult beverages.

[ 8 ] Koozie (Vineyard Vines, $5):: Additional adult beverages.

[ 9 ] Sunscreen (Aveeno, $10):: Because I’ve signed the Sun Savvy Pledge and promise to stick to it!

[ 10 ] Backpack (Forever 21, $27):: We’ll be biking around most of the island over the course of the week, and backpacks seem like the only way to go.

[ 11 ] Vacation Footwear (Jack Rogers, $100 + Sperry, $80):: Sandals that can easily transition from day-to-night and boat shoes are about all I need! (Well, in theory that is…)

What am I missing? What are your vacation essentials, especially for this little part of New England?

[ Monogrammed Derby Straw Hat, Marley Lilly, $36 ]

For a New England girl, I happen to love the Southern tradition of the Kentucky Derby. I mean, give me some seersucker, bow sashes, and floppy hats any day and I’ll be happy, so I guess the Derby is really just an excuse… either way, I plan on betting some mint juleps this Saturday! Will you be celebrating? Or at least dressing for the occasion?

Opa Gingham Style

lilly pulitzer pink puffer vest

Lauren Puffer Vest, Lilly Pulitzer // Gingham Shirt, Vineyard Vines // Jeans, American Eagle // Starfish Headband, Vineyard Vines // Bracelets, Lilly Pulitzer; Kiel James Patrick, Alex & Ani // Desert Boots, Wild Diva [similar]

Pink puffer vest strikes again! Bright pinks like this and cheery blue gingham like this are the only things getting me through this horrid winter (ie. the only days it’s not snowing it’s raining with 40 mph wind instead). I’m looking forward to spring more than I can express in words, so right now I’ll let the vibrant colors and picnic-ready patterns do the talking…!

Paxton1345

Last week, I received the softest, most adorable pair of boxer shorts, and I have had a hard time taking them off ever since.

Rope Bracelets, Kiel James Patrick

Paxton1345 is a new line of boxers for men & women, made in the U.S. of A and designed right here in Boston. Designer and founder Erin Cormier is not a nightgown girl, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want her nightwear to be flattering! She has taken the comfiness of men’s boxers and tucked//trimmed//folded them down to look great on girls as well. My favorite part? The New England feel and pride behind them– each design is named after a local area, from Nantucket to Newport, Beantown to Brookline.

I can guarantee I’ll be lounging around in these all summer, but until bare legs become a little more bearable, I’ve loved layering them over leggings!

Bilton Hoodie, Jack Wills
Leggings, Anthropologie [similar]

If you’re in the area, I’m sure you’ve already seen the line popping up in local boutiques, but boxers can also be purchased online here for women and here for men (Valentine’s Day anyone??). My only tip: they are very tailored, so if you’re planning on wearing them loose and loungey, I would size up :)

Have I mentioned that I adore this brand?

Disclosure: I was provided a pair of boxers for review; all opinions expressed are my own.

Road Trip

All summer, I’ve been having this fantasy of waking up on a weekend morning with no plans and taking a spontaneous road trip down to The Cape. Hopping on the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. Alas, it hasn’t happened yet, but this is the comfy, New England-style ensemble I’d throw on if it did! Love me some Friday’s Fancies.

The Ultimate Preppy Shoes

I feel like my pink-and-green-and-nautical prep side has been surfacing a lot lately. Since we’ve reached one of our last summer Tuesdays, I thought today’s Shoesday should be dedicated to my favorite warm-weather preppy soles from the best of the preppy brands.

Lilly Pulitzer Wedges
Sperry Top-Siders
Jack Rogers Navajos
Lacoste Flats
Kate Spade Espadrilles
Vineyard Vines Flip Flops

What did I miss? What other shoes can you preps not live without?

In other preppy news, Lilly Pulitzer‘s huge summer sale started today, and items are already flying! I’m not supposed to be shopping, but the super discounted price tag on the Murfee scarves was just too hard to resist!

Neck and Bow Ties for Daddy’s Day

Father’s Day is coming up… and while the hot pick for dads this year is one of the fancy new e-readers, I know Greguine, after hours of sitting on his computer working every day, isn’t one to really appreciate electronic reading on his downtime.

I’ve been getting my dad ties as a gift for as long as I can remember– it’s just hard to go wrong with them!  So in case you, too, are going to go with a tie for Father’s Day, here are my favorites.  No, I don’t really think my own father would wear many of these preppy picks, but perhaps this will serve as a little bit of encouragement!

Golf Course Printed Tie, Vineyard Vines, $75

Tompkins Tattersall Bow Tie, J Crew, $49.50

Cotton Madras Patchwork Tie, Rugby, $79.50

Navy and Khaki Tattersall Bow Tie, High Cotton Ties, $45

Crambeck Cotton Tie, Jack Wills, $39

Flamingo Bowtie, Tommy Hilfiger, $45

Royal Wedding is TOMORROW!

I don’t really care that I’m on this side of the pond– I’m drinking tea with scones and dressing for the occasion anyway.  Here are some darling dresses for you to adorn at your own tea parties to commemorate this magical and historical day…

And a little something that made me chuckle…
