I’m the most excited to share these photos with you all today! Last weekend I met up with my friend Hope Kauffman, photographer extraordinaire, for a fun shoot around the Boston Harbor. This girl is going places…. like, literally. Boston was just a quick stop on her way to South Africa to shoot with Russell James... as in, Victoria’s Secret photographer Russell James. She made time for little me and I could not have had a more fun time shooting + playing around the Waterfront with her!

Espresso! That is.
We were graced with such an oddly warm weekend… just enough time to grab an iced latte before the sky turned gray, the clouds opened up, the snow/rain began, and back to frigid it was.
I’m really struggling with this whole winter thing lately. Seven years of it apparently doesn’t make you stronger. BF is done with my complaining though– he told me to take a page out of Lilly Pulitzer’s book [is he learning or what?!].
Fellow cold-climate ladies– how do you keep your spirits up in the winter?

A few snapshots of my borrowed look from Saturday’s event! I fell in LURVE with this dress– I’m kicking myself for not getting a shot of the fun back [jacket stayed on all day-- brrr!], but you’ll have to check it out here.
Aztec Bib Dress, Free People | Vegan Leather Hooded Motorcycle Jacket, Free People | Booties, Steve Madden [similar]
I never pick up cool-chick jackets like this on my own, so I was grateful for the FP team’s push :) Not pictured: Its adorable cozy hood.

I have nothing worthy to say about this outfit, except to admit that I’ve been wearing it just a bit too often lately. I’m in the midst of a love affair with this vest [see here//here//here if you've ever wondered if you'll get enough use out of a navy + white striped puffer vest] as well as with anything gold, and I apologize that you’ve all had to witness it.
Happy Wednesday mah luvs! Be safe out there in the snow!

Just a quick outfit post today to remind you of my outrageously nerdy side, in case you’ve been missing it.
I suppose you could say my fashion blogging career started in this playground.
Sometime during my awkward high school years, probably drooling over the spreads of Teen Vogue, I realized this park would work as a pretty darn cute backdrop for my amateur “fashion photography,” if you can even call it that. So, I would grab my
best friends models, put together some outfits [all fitting within a theme of course, jungle fever or bohemian flower child, perhaps], style them, and shoot away. I had quite the portfolio for a 16-year-old with a point-and-shoot.
Anyway, it only seemed fitting to stop by the old playground when I was in town, and experience for myself what I used to put my friends through all those years. Ladies, I do apologize now.

Though my family no longer lives there, I couldn’t resist a short trip down to my home area of the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania when the opportunity arose over the holidays. It really deserves a travel post of its own, but most of our time on this particular journey was spent inside visiting old friends [and eating... namely Wawa, Philly Cheesesteaks, Half Moon Saloon's Crab Nachos, and Hank's Place's famous corned beef hash].
I did have to take a few moments, though, to show BF some of my favorite childhood sights, like this darling covered bridge. While the original from 1839 has since burned down, this 2002 version was rebuilt to replicate the original, and it still holds the same rustic, single-lane charm [as nerve-racking as driving over it may be!].

My monogrammed necklace [which has been on my wish list for-EVER] was sent to me by the kind folks at Onecklace– much more affordable than most retailers I’ve seen, yet still beautiful quality. And you just cannot beat free shipping!
[ Black Ruffle Racer Back Tank, $124 | Sloe Gin Fizz Sequin Skirt, $194 ]
Showing off one of my favorite New Year’s Eve party looks from Britt Ryan‘s Madmen-inspired holiday line! Because honestly, how can you ring in the new year without sequins?
[ Statement Necklace, $42 ]
[ Cream Cuff, $24 ]
Also loving this bea-ut-iful silk ruffle tank– the shirt version of yesterday’s berry-colored dress.
And that concludes my Britt Ryan series ladies! [see party looks #1 and #2] Have any of you Boston girls stopped by the shop on Newbury yet? If not, tonight’s your excuse! Joint the Britt Ryan team 12/5 at both the Boston and Georgetown locations for their Holiday Party! Sip champagne while you shop, and receive exclusive discounts. [But spend any amount and receive 10% off if you mention you're a shell chic'd reader :-)]
More holiday pieces are arriving each week, and you can see some additional snapshots here. Let me know if you pick up any goodies! xo
I’m back with another favorite party look from Britt Ryan‘s holiday collection! I adore this berry-colored dress, as it’s clearly festive, but a shade away from your typical Candy Cane Red. And the ruffles? So fun– and a Britt Ryan signature I’m beginning to see!
[ Joan T-Back Dress in Raspberry Red, $282 | Pearl Bracelet, $28 ]
[ Fifth Avenue Coat, $656 ]
This coat is also quite possibly one of my favorite articles of clothing I’ve encountered this year. It is butter-soft, and the photos cannot even begin to do the sweet detailing justice. Hey, if it’s going to be cold here for the next five+ months, might as well embrace it in style!
Remember, Britt Ryan is offering shell chic’d readers 10% off! If you’re not in the Boston area, you can order by phone or reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow them on Facebook for other offers + new products!
