One of the absolute best things about being an Emerson College alum is meeting all of the talented and inspiring individuals the network connects you to, both current students and alumni. Last week, I met up with current student Celina Colby, fashion blogger behind Trends & Tolstoy. I considered myself to be pretty involved while in school, but as a sophomore, Celina is already blowing me out of the water. I discovered that in addition to Emerson, we share a love of Nutella lattes, exploring our little city of Boston, and, as you’ll see, pink blazers. We styled our fluorescent duds in pretty opposing ways and had fun battling it out in a photoshoot with Celina’s photographer Jamie Kaplan– to see the full battle, head on over to Trends & Tolstoy today!

-Getting kicked out of Starbucks at 6:20 pm when they close at 7, so the employee could wash the floors. I understand, you’ve had a long day, but when I worked in the food industry, we didn’t even begin cleaning until our actual closing time. And even then we didn’t kick out dawdlers!
-Being caught as a part of the only group in costume not once but twice this Halloween season.
-Forgetting where the question mark key [?] is on my computer while typing this morning. How does that even happen?
-Going to NEW YORK this weekend to see my bff [kTk]!
-Hanging out with a certain funny character from a certain movie [
Superbad] last weekend :)
-My Halloween outfit pictured above [since my office was not keen on dressing in costume] is pumpkin-themed!
-SYDNEY [the host of these glorious A&A Thursday link ups] HAD HER BABY!!
So, so happy it’s Friday! Thought this one called for an outfit of the day…
H&M has these perfect mini pencil skirts right now- for only six bucks! They come in navy and black and tend do go with about 75% of my wardrobe. I paired the black one with this Anthropologie top I’ve had for years but haven’t worn in forever… I was always self-conscious about how much fabric there was to it, but with a slimming black skirt I think I like the looks of it a lot more now!
What are y’all up to this weekend? I’m so ready for it, this week has felt so long now that I’m commuting into the city from home. I’ve hardly been able to keep my eyes open at work! I was looking forward to some good old relaxation, but we’ll see what Miss Hurricane Irene has in store for us… Everyone please be safe!!
So in case you aren’t quite as obsessed with the royal couple as I am, or you have just been avidly avoiding all media lately, Kate and Wills have begun their North American tour! Today they arrive in Los Angeles (of COURSE I just missed them), but for the last week they’ve been making stops all over Canada. Kate looked chic as always, and I’ve done my best to make her looks more accessible to you!
And don’t you worry, I’ll be back with her California wardrobe as soon as it’s revealed!
Who first introduced me to big, floppy hats? That would be my girl Audrey.
And there’s no better time to sport this style than on sunny summer days! If you’re heading down to the beach this weekend, or any weekend over the next four months for that matter, cover up and look cute with one of these great sun hats:
Too plain for you? Dress up these straw hats with a Coach scarf tied around the brim!
No, I’m not going. I may look young but believe it or not I am past this time in my life. BUT my little brother is going to his senior prom this weekend! One thing I miss about high school is all of the excuses I had to dress shop. I couldn’t resist keeping my eye open on some semi-formal/formal styles this month, with all of the prom glory in the air. So just in case you do have an event to attend, here are some of my favorites. And sorry, but I’ve just always been bias to short dresses– even at prom (see below for the short full skirt–we called it the cupcake dress)!
And the belle of the ball, the dress I’ve wanted for so long:
Me and bff Kelly at our junior prom:
edit: The kids made it to prom! And would you check out the fabulousness of Amanda’s shoes? My kind of girl!
