Raise your hand if you’re a New Girl fan! I can’t get enough of Jess’s quirky humor, or her adorable style. Spotted in this polka dot J.Crew sweater recently (still available in gray!), she has really put me in the mood to mix navy blue + kelly green… and clearly I’m not alone in craving this pairing…!

Chiffon + Wraps

Dress, Aryn K via Savas Studios
Earrings, Anthropologie [similar]

Necklace, via Savas Studios
Wrap bracelets, Presh via Savas StudiosBelt, J Crew
Pumps, Steve Madden [similar]

My new obsession? Wrap bracelets.

These come from Presh by way of Savas Studios. Designer Nicole Apostoli launched the collection in 2001, and since then they have been featured on celebrities everywhere. These are also the bracelets worn by the models every year in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition! I ain’t no celeb, and I’m sure as heck not a swimsuit model, but I sure did feel lucky trying a few of these on :)

Savas Studios is one of the few locations in Boston to sell these, so all the more reason to make a stop over there– they’re also offering 15% off your purchase if you mention so anthro. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway as well!

The Carrie Diaries

Warner Bros. Television Entertainment/Eric Liebowitz

I am getting super excited about The Carrie Diaries upcoming TV show, if for nothing else than the fashion! I think AnnaSophia Robb is just adorable and, at least from the few pre-production photos I’ve seen, is really fitting the part. Young Carrie’s style may not be a look I can rock every day, but it sure is fun playing dress up sometimes!

What do you think– are you excited about The Carrie Diaries or do you fear it will ruin the allure of Sex and the City?

Hollywood Glam

I don’t think I’m alone in admitting that half of the reason I watch awards shows is for the fashions. I’m so excited to see all of the gorgeous dresses that rock the red carpet this Sunday at the Academy Awards, and equally as excited to be linking up with long distance loving for an Oscar’s-themed Friday’s Fancies!

When my style icon Kate Middleton stopped in Hollywood as a part of her North American tour last summer, I couldn’t wait to see what she wore to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts celebration. Stepping out in a lavender Alexander McQueen, she exceeded any expectations I had. I knew at that moment, that if I ever had the chance to walk down that red carpet, I would choose to wear something pretty dang similar…

I think I mentioned last week, I saw this movie recently…

Not only did I cry through most the whole thing because of the great story which I can personally relate to, but I also fell in love with Felicity Jones’s character’s style. And she showed up for a Q&A after the screening, have I mentioned that too? :)

But anyway, the character and the actress inspired me to put together this boho feminine look, also a perfect way to debut my Missoni for Target steal!

Sheer blouse, Urban Outfitters
Tank, H&M
Pleated skirt, Urban Outfitters
Clock necklace, American Eagle
Bracelet, vintage
Pumps, Missoni for Target

And if you take nothing else from this post, please please please just go see the film! You won’t be disappointed.

post script. I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy and What I Wore Wednesday for the first time today!

Happy November! I can’t believe that November 1st means that I have officially been a resident of my “new” neighborhood– and bedroom– for two months now. I figure that means it’s about time for a couple photos of the room like I promised!

I got my inspiration from Carrie’s apartment, when she has it redone in the Sex and the City movies…

My version, though surely full of differences, came out better than I ever could have hoped!

A little preppy, a little boho, and with a hint of sparkle– I feel right at home here :) The frames are full of a mix of vintage postcards, little sayings, and some of mine and my friend Samantha‘s photography.

And just because it’s not a Carrie [or Emily, for that matter] lair without the clothes…

Plus another reminder from the first SATC movie:

I think I’ll stay awhile.

New Girl

One great thing about postgrad life is I finally have a little more time for TV. Pretty sure for the last four years all I watched was Gossip Girl, plus Lost reruns over winter and summer breaks. But now with no homework, no meetings, and no fewer rehearsals, I have some weeknights back. And the show I took on: New Girl!

I’ve always loved Zooey Deschanel, and as much as I hate to admit it, I see myself relating an eensy bitsy bit (ok a lot) to her character here. So, what task to take on but to channel her style?

Sweater, J Crew

Tights, Express
Ballet flats, Steve Madden

How’d I do? Do you watch New Girl?

Orange + Purple Trending

What do you all think about the color combo?

Photo: WENN

I’ll tell you one thing: celebs seem to love it.  In addition to Jessica Alba, Rhianna, Kim Kardashian, Cheryl Cole, and Camilla Belle have all been seen sporting this trend. Vogue and Marie Claire have also showcased it on recent covers.

To be honest, I didn’t love it at first.  But when I found this purple skirt with orange details on sale for $30 at Free People, and I knew I had this tank from Anthropologie in burnt orange sitting in a drawer and only belonging to one other outfit, I thought, ok I can give this trend a try.

I complemented it with gold jewelry and black crochet TOMS to bring together the other black details in the skirt.  The thing about this combo is the colors are so striking on their own, so I wouldn’t try to add a third unless it’s a neutral or black.  There are also some specks of turquoise in the skirt, but I found that adding any more brights or bolds in shoes or accessories would be pushing it.  After all, I’m still new to this color thing!

What do you think of purple and orange together? What do you think the next bold-color pairing trend will be– or better yet, what are you hoping it will be?
