I thought about searching for some indulgent, chocolatey Valentine cocktail to style + share today, but then I realized it’s also my #birthdayweek… and birthdays are more of an excuse to drink anyway :)
I love most things about being a February baby, minus the winter weather [fun party dresses are always accompanied by lotsa layers]. But THIS COAT. This is a party coat! And with an Italian 75 in hand–one cocktail that embraces my love for Prosecco + lemon but also looks toward brighter, summery days with the addition of pear–I’d be a happy birthday girl.

Dorothy Coat, Kate Spade, $698
Indico Pump, Ivanka Trump, $100
[ drink that ]
french 75 from good spirits by a.j. rathbun
[ ingredients ]
1 oz gin
1/2 oz pear grappa
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
lemon twist for garnish
[ directions ]
1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Add the gin, grappa, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake as if you were standing in line for the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and could only get to the front by demonstrating prodigious shaking ability.
2. Strain the mix into a flute glass. Top it off with chilled Prosecco, and garnish with the lemon twist.

Just a quick outfit post today to remind you of my outrageously nerdy side, in case you’ve been missing it.
Obviously it has started to warm up as I post this, but last week New England was downright frigid! I’m talking I-cried-at-the-bus-stop-I-was-so-cold freezing. So as spring clothes start to pop up in stores, I can’t help but keep my focus on winter coats to finish out the season…

It’s taken me a while to decide how I feel about Kate Spade’s newest venture: Saturday. I’ve loved the Kate Spade brand since I was a little girl, and it’s been fun to watch it grow and change over the years. Saturday, rightfully so as a separate brand, is entirely different from anything I’ve seen Kate Spade present before. With very bold, graphic prints, it definitely does not speak to the “classic” styles you see as a part of the original Kate Spade line. But you have to admit, while exactly full of timeless pieces, the new brand is rather fun…::

Talk about brights! I’m curious to know if their trademark highlighter yellow, pink, and black + white will stay the primary colors of the brand, or if they will eventually mix things up. And if anyone has made a purchase and can speak to the quality of the products, I’d love to hear!
What are your thoughts on the newest member of the Kate Spade family?
I don’t do well in heels, or really any sort of platform shoes. But I just cannot get wedges off my mind this spring! Rounded up some of my favorites for a shoe-themed Friday’s Fancies.
