Because isn’t that what spring is made of?
Just wanted to pop by + show off two new additions to my closet that are getting tons o’ use so far this spring!
White Tee, Sonoma | Lucky Charms Skirt, Preppy Pink Shop | Bow Ring, Kate Spade | Tassel Tote Bag, Old Navy | Lacoste Marice Sneakers c/o OnlineShoes
I’m a big fan of Keds, but these fresh Lacoste sneaks totally rival them. I mean, it’s way difficult to compete with slip-on shoes… I’ve been sliding them on and off daily this spring! They’re perfect for commuting too– the season of Uggs-before-heels has passed gals; load up on them tennis shoes.
Word to the wise, I found that this particular pair ran a bit big, so I would consider sizing down!
If you’ve been reading [shell chic'd] for a while, you’ve probably come to terms with my addiction to Preppy Pink Shop goods [as seen here | here | and here, among elsewhere]. Justice makes the most darling + not to mention COMFORTABLE skirts around, and many in hard-to-find Lilly Pulitzer fabrics! I’m currently crushing on the Nautical Ships + First Impression prints [seriously, pre-order this now because it will NOT last!].
[ post script: PPS has a bunch of Lilly Derby Hats for sale via Instagram right now-- snag those up in time for the Kentucky Derby next weekend! ]
For 20% off your Preppy Pink Shop Etsy orders, be sure to use code SHELLCHIC! Can’t wait to see what you pick out! xx
Exactly 15 days until Derby Day! For a Northern girl, I happen to love watching [& celebrating] the Kentucky Derby… overly preppy sundresses, big hats, seersucker, mint juleps, and all. Here are just a few of the dresses + accessories I’ve had my eye on for this year’s ensemble…
[ Horse & Hound Needlepoint Hat, Harding-Lane ]
[ Packable 5+ Brim Hat, Toucan Hats ]
[ Horseshoe Charm Bangle, Alex & Ani ]
[ Gold Plated Horseshoe Earrings, ASOS (sale!) ]

[ Horse Print Skater Dress, ASOS ]

Now if only I could get BF to sport that pastel bow tie…
Will you celebrate the Derby this year? Better yet, anyone going?!
The [almost]-seventy degree temps this past weekend meant one thing: I was hitting the Harborwalk! I usually pop on in the North End and walk all the way to Seaport, so the walk requires two things: nice weather [check!], and comfortable shoes!
The team at White Mountain [they're based in New England-- hey local!] sent me these super comfy catamaran sandals, and I couldn’t wait to break them out for one of our first days of sandal weather. I walked hours in them and didn’t get one blister! They also come in Natural and I am definitely not contemplating getting them in a second color or anything…
Whale Sweater, J.Crew [similar] | Dress, Urban Outfitters [similar 1; 2] | Crossbody Bag, Madewell | Tassel Keychain, Design Darling | Catamaran Sandals, White Mountain
I’m also on the hunt for comfortable (or even just bearable!) spring wedges, and am loving these Tigerlily Honey Heels and Mamba Navy Wedges. Amiright?
White Mountain is giving my readers 22% off their purchase with code SHELL22– what will you pick up?!
Despite Easter being weeks later than it was last year, the holiday has still managed to sneak up on me! If you’re at a loss for what to wear this Sunday [like me!], here are a few last-minute dress options…
Lexington Dress, Lilly Pulitzer | Polka Dot Scuba Fit & Flare Dress, Gabby Skye | Tencel Denim Fit & Flare Dress, GAP | Striped Silverscreen Dress, Kate Spade | Emerald Poppy Textured Dress, Pim + Larkin | Phoebe Ruffle Neckline Dress, Lilly Pulitzer | Eyelet Wildfield Dress, Madewell | Sunflower Lace Dress, Collette Dinnigan | Crepe Shift Dress, Wayf
What do you sport for Easter dinner?
So we talked about the fun side of spring earlier this week, but of course with every spring comes days & days of rain as well! These annual April Showers posts are always a good challenge for me though… there’s no escaping the rain, so might as well sport pieces that you’re excited to wear! I always find that makes weather a bit more bearable :)
[ Umbrella, Kate Spade ]
[ Dog Cotton Trench Coat, C.Wonder (how cute is this?!) ]
[ Mini Nylon Crossbosy Easy Tote, C.Wonder ]
[ Belted Trench Coat, Calvin Klein ]
[ Posh Wellies, Joule's ]
[ Ballet Flats, Hunter ]

Let me make a few things clear::
1 // I ain’t engaged.
2 // I’m hardly wedding obsessed [not even a secret Pinterest board for this girl!]
but, 3 // I think BHLDN is the most beautiful thing to grace the world of weddings since the vows themselves.
I mean, born out of Anthropologie, how could it not be?
As a part of my day at Chestnut Hill Square, I stopped in the new BHLDN and swoon. You do not have to be a bride or even a bridesmaid to love this store. Gorgeous party dresses, jewelry, shoes, clutches, party decorations, and gifts galore.

With wedding season just around the corner, you can be sure I’ll be picking up some gifts + party-guest dresses here!

My sweet mama just returned from a little Italian vacay in the heart of Rome. Not at all to say I haven’t been beyond grateful for all of the traveling I’ve gotten to do this year, but I still have to admit that it’s been a liiiiitle hard to keep my jealousy to a minimum… I mean, it’s Italy!
So I’ve just been sitting over here soaking in every snippet of sun we’ve been given in Boston lately, and dreaming about Rome//Venice//Florence//Capri with Kate Spade‘s new inspired collection instead…
[ Broome Street Capri | Whitley Top | 2 Park Avenue Darling | Pointer Sneakers ]

I had big, big plans for my camera on our trip to Miami last week, but for some reason down there, piña coladas and laying comatose by the pool became serious priorities, and Mr. Nikon didn’t see much outside of my suitcase.
I did, however, pull it out for a day that included shopping and eating our way down Lincoln Road [Havana 1957 is a MUST] and a walk along Miami Beach. I never thought a city like Miami would be very much my style, but my oh my it was hard not to love!
Anastasia Dress, Lilly Pulitzer | Tortoise Sunglasses, Target | Monogram Necklace c/o Onecklance | Rope Bracelet, Oh Buoy Boston | Coastal Tote, Lilly Pulitzer | Navajo Sandals, Jack Rogers
I also planned on getting more sun than this, but you know, #palepeopleproblems.
Have you been to Miami? What were you must-dos and sees?

Dahlings, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but today is my lil ‘ol blog’s third birthday! I’m sorry I didn’t dress for the occasion like I have in past years, but choice of casual wear is actually in honor of some bigs things to come in my fourth year!
Nauti or Nice Long-Sleeve Tee, customized c/o Spreadshirt | Necklace, Tiffany & Co | Shorts, H&M [similar] | Navajo Sandals, Jack Rogers
Let me back up though and tell you about a fun thing called Spreadshirt, a new online marketplace that’s like Custom Ink met Etsy. If you’re the shopping kind, you can find all sorts of fun tees, mugs, bags, etc. to fill your closet with. If you’re the artistic kind, you can upload your own designs and have them printed on shirts and other products. Or if you’re the entrepreneurial kind, you can upload your own designs AND turn around and sell them in the Spreadshirt marketplace!
My BFF Samantha and I used Spreadshirt to design the shirt above [SO comfortable-- and you can buy your own here!]. She gets full credit for this fun design, and I’m so excited to let you know that you may just be seeing a lot more of her + her work around here! We have some exciting things planned that have been in the works for a while [like, since wine-and-craft nights in college while], and I’m counting the days until I can tell you about them! For sneak peeks [+ hints!], be sure to follow us both on Instagram: @emilyshell & @samkirner.
Until then, you can snag your own Nauti or Nice tee for a limited time, and try Spreadshirt yourself! Let me know what you end up making or selling!
