I was most definitely that 14-year-old growing up who did not want glasses that blended in, but rather was all for showing off my lack of 20-20 vision with some dark, cat eye frames. I’ve been sticking to black-rimmed glasses ever since, but at the new Warby Parker store in Boston [see yesterday's post for the review!], I took the plunge and tried on a handful of tortoise pairs. I fell in l-o-v-e with this Ainsworth style, and again, am a little too happy I have been blessed with less-than-perfect eyesight!
psst! I was featured as a Modern Style Icon on The StyleUp blog this week! Have you all subscribed to StyleUp yet? It’s a free daily newsletter that provides you with the forecast and one inspiration outfit that matches the weather and is catered to your taste. I get mine delivered at 9pm the night before, so I have time to think about and plan my outfit for the next day! Loving it so far– read my interview to hear exactly why!
On a daily basis, I try to dress by a certain “live colorfully” motto. Yet even I can’t deny that a black and white ensemble is always classic and chic. A black blazer is a closet staple, and I first got the idea to pair them with white dresses + rainboots from this shot of Reese Witherspoon. The bow headband and tassel purse are my own fun additions :)

New England was blessed with a very mild winter last year, with really our only snowstorm being on Halloween(!). This year though, I’m ready for the snow– bring on the crunch under my boots and the layers of sweaters to stay warm!

Back to the grind everyone! After the cheer of Christmas is over, I find it hard to keep up motivation before spring comes around again. That goes for a few things, but most of all, for dressing. Working in a particularly chilly office with a casual dress code, it’s easy to slip into the trap of jeans, cardigans, and [forgive me] Uggs on a daily basis. My goal for January is to take advantage of tights, cute but not too casual sweaters, and warm riding boots [not pictured...].
How are you planing to stay warm, but chic, throughout the rest of the winter months?

This boyfriend blazer + boyfriend jeans look might be a lot cuter with an actual boyfriend. But until I’ve got J Biebs (or more than likely, his older brother) signing me this, I’ve gotta stick with the girl version knockoffs.
