BHLDN Chestnut Hill

BHLDN Bridal Jewelry

Let me make a few things clear::

1 // I ain’t engaged.
2 // I’m hardly wedding obsessed [not even a secret Pinterest board for this girl!]
but, 3 // I think BHLDN is the most beautiful thing to grace the world of weddings since the vows themselves.

I mean, born out of Anthropologie, how could it not be?

As a part of my day at Chestnut Hill Square, I stopped in the new BHLDN and swoon. You do not have to be a bride or even a bridesmaid to love this store. Gorgeous party dresses, jewelry, shoes, clutches, party decorations, and gifts galore.

Anthro Kitchen Favorites

I will be the first to admit that I am a terrible embarrassment to my day job as a cookbook publisher: Not only am I an extremely mediocre cook (and that’s being generous), but I also have the most despicable kitchen! Blame it on my 100-year-old North End apartment and its lack of counter and storage space, but daily, I dream of having a beautiful, light kitchen, with enough room to a) spread out and, well, cook, and b) store and display such beautiful kitchen goodies as these:

Anthropologie Kitchen

[ 1 ] Bistro Canisters, $14-$24
[ 2 ] Jardin de Plantes Spoons, $8-$10
[ 3 ] Farmers Market Basket, $14
[ 4 ] Pedal Power Dishtowel, $22
[ 5 ] 1932 Bergamo Mini Cookware, $48
[ 6 ] Glittering Silverware, $34-$78 (also available in gold!)
[ 7 ] Stripes Abound Apron, $36
[ 8 ] Whale Cutting Board, $98
[ 9 ] Chroma Juice Press, $175

What would you fill your dream kitchen with?

[ 2 ] Downtown Leather Crossbody, Lilly Pulitzer, $168
[ 3 ] Heart Headband, ban.do, $25
[ 4 ] Le Pavillion iPhone Case, Kate Spade, $40
[ 5 ] Gold-Dipped Flatware, Anthropologie, $38
[ 6 ] Luminous Dots Pillow, Anthropologie, $58
[ 7 ] Mini-Bow Ring, Madewell, $15
[ 8 ] Gold Stained Mug, SHOP by monika, $29
[ 9 ] Metallic Boat Shoe, Sperry Top-Sider for J.Crew, $98
[ 10 ] Threshold Gold Dot Jewelry Box, Target, $13

What hue is on your mind for 2014?

Tipsy Tuesday No.6: Spiked Cider

This hot, spiked cider is one of my favorite things to serve on Thanksgiving. It doubles as a delicious post-feast nightcap and an apple-cinnamon kitchen-filling aroma that beats any holiday candle.

Steaming Spiked Cider

[ drink that ]
steaming spiked cider from party drinks! by a.j. rathbun
serves 10

[ ingredients ]
4 quarts fresh apple cider (the cloudier the better)
16 ounces white rum
20 ounces cinnamon schnapps
1 teaspoon whole cloves
3/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
cinnamon sticks to taste
apple slices for garnish

[ directions ]
1. Pour the cider into a large nonreactive saucepan, turn the heat to medium, and let cider warm for about 5 minutes.
2. Add the remaining ingredients except the garnish, Bring the heat up to just below boiling, and let it simmer for 15 minutes. You want it piping warm, but not so hot that it burns a guest’s mouth.
3. Ladle into large heatproof mugs, adding a cinnamon stick or two to each mug, and an apple slice, if desired.

What’s your favorite drink to sip on ’round the Thanksgiving table?
